When will the public break?

The answer is no.

If the GVT thought people were at breaking point so they rebel they would impose a military imposed curfew policy. Which I am sure will come soon.

The current 'Lockdown' are just confusing guidelines and advice (as Gove has just confirmed on Marr as I type)... which are currently optional.

Financial Armageddon is already baked into the cake. We will be returning to a scorched earth economy and martial law.

People are going to think that once they have had it then they are amune so can go out whenever and however they want.

I think this will become a huge problem

Also, wait until the weather becomes sunny. Who wants to be stuck indoors in summer?

Then if we were in this form of lockdown until June I fear most will have more things to worry about such as no income at the time when the country realises it can’t afford to continue furlough and support.

And all the services we take for granted will be no more. This is completely unsustainable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think it will go on until June. I think another 5 weeks is realistic. 6 weeks was kind of my thinking after they initially went for 3. It might be wiser to go on til June in an ideal world, but I'm not expecting that to be the case

Where you gonna go for a drink?

The reason lockdown is enforced is to primarily stop the health system get inundated. It is possible before 12 weeks if these temporary hospitals up and down the country actually work that we reach a point of balance between having a health system to cope with the illness and being able to get out of ‘lockdown’ to actually have a viable economy and protect the other health and social problems a lockdown otherwise brings.

And yes, many people would take a sweet with 1/100 chance of killing you. Weird analogy still.

It’s just not workable. People will have to be forced practically at gunpoint to stay in.

And when anyone is killed because they refuse to accept it where then?

Purely on an economic and a psychological basis a lockdown for the next 3 months is unworkable. And unnecessary as it stands right now.

How are people going to be held at gunpoint when there is nowhere to go?

Agreed. My thinking was late April/early May which will be about 6-7 weeks

If you have half a brain you’ll know that lockdown is the best thing for us right now; even if it lasts months

On the contrary I think a lot of people who know a lot more about you in fields of public health and economics would argue that a ‘lockdown’ that goes on for months is NOT the best thing to do.

Some people are still abusing the rules even though there is nowhere to go.

Crikey; I was reading last night that the police were being inundated with calls from people giving it “that’s him gone out twice today; come and arrest him”

ffs

We do have our share of fwckwits

Thank goodness most of us don’t have “half a brain”

But that’s the thing. People are already breaking the rules no doubt. It’s always going to happen. It doesn’t meant the country is going to riot

For me, the most difficult thing is the uncertainty. Which is obviously unavoidable.

But if you knew there was a set datewhen normality would return, then it would be far easier to set goals. Even if it was a set date of 6 months down the line, I'd have that end goal and be able to set milestones along the way. Whilst it's a moving target, it's impossible to do that.

That's why people need to set themselves goals they can control. Learn a musical instrument, read about topics of interest, write a book, paint, get in shape, etc.

Wise words. I've been jogging outside, which I hadn't done in years with access to a gym. Completely different animal. But it's given me something to aim to get better at. Plus, it's nice to get out in the fresh air

We should be getting a refund on our contents insurance cos we are at home making burglaries more unlikely.

Hadn't thought of that. Though, on similar lines, I do think our rates bills should be reduced, given the lack of access to services. Not that it will happen
