Like, Saying that your wife “basically won” her appeal, how do you basically win?

You either win or lose!

What do you class as a genuine reason to be off work?

Unless your wife genuinely has some illness which i hope she’s well now!

But if it was colds and stuff i think her company were totally in the right for giving the lazy fat slob a warning for having 4 spells of absence in 6 months, people like that deserve everything they get.

If it were my company I'd treat it on a case by case basis and where people are taking the Ρ€iss, I'd give them the warning and where people have a legitimate reason, I wouldn't. I would also look for patterns, for example does it keep happening on a Monday, how many times does the same illness occur. I would then give advice and in some cases offer the company's help, in getting to the bottom of an illness.

As I said, case by case basis, not a straight warning for three periods of illness in six months.

I believe that 3 or 4 spells in 6 months unless someone has an ongoing illness 9 times out of 10 are piiss takers.
