There are a few CB's already practising social distancing

posted on 17/4/20

Maybe players will be given a 2m stick and they ran with that to let other players know if the social distancing is bring applied. Then if not, this could be referred to the VAR for review. Though some clubs will get away with it because VAR is friendly to them. Sliding tackles and group celebrations will be outlawed. Games will last until certain teams win. Oh wait, that's already implemented 😁
The fans will be virus tested and will be allowed to watch the game in nearby pubs. Pubs will not be allowed to serve any corona and anyone asking for it, will be sent home.
Might sound ridiculous but this playing the rest of the season during a lockdown, behind the closed doors isn't?

It won't be played during the lockdown. It will be when some of the restrictions are loosened.

Sandy I thought the season was going to be voided

There’s a premier league meeting today, maybe it will happen then

Some mind of social distancing will basically mean no crowds of people together of say, over 50. It doesn't mean how things currently are.

Yes I get that mate, but how will it work with players during a game? They cannot stay two metres away from each other.

That is still my take mate, and also next season may go as well. I am just putting a scenario of footie behind closed doors, and why it probably won`t happen.

It’s going to happen in other European leagues so why not here

I wonder how quickly the novelty of behind closed doors will last. It's better than nothing but it hugely detracts from the enjoyment of watching it.

Will be so weird watching crucial matches with nobody there. Not sure it will generate the same emotions.

Can’t they just pump crowd noise through the PA like they do at West Ham already?

posted on 17/4/20

It is all impossibly complex, I can`t see how it could be done 100% safely. Though I am sure the money men will be trying their upmost to make it happen.

But it`s all a moot point anyway, whatever happens this season has been polluted irretrievably and can`t be considered 100% fair and legit.

Whether they somehow finish the season, void it or complete it as it stands, it can not be anything other than remembered in history as a compromised season sadly.

posted on 17/4/20

It couldn’t restart as it is. There would be 250 plus people to get a premier league game on. Coaches physios security players etc

Plus you would need police, fire brigade and ambulance staff to manage the inevitable f a q wits that will be outside the ground.

I just cannot see how they could responsibly restart the season unless restrictions are lifted hugely.

I.e allowing crowds of more than 50 people. Which I can’t see happening until a vaccine is found.

It would be incredibly irresponsible to start otherwise.

posted on 17/4/20

Maybe a soundcrew onsite for the PA with buttons handy if certain things happen
A crescendo of noise builds up when there’s a counter attack, or a groan when someone miscontrols a ball, or a feint ‘Fack off you caaant’ when someone’s taking a throw in

Could even do club specifics, chants & songs

Spitting could be a red card offence too

posted on 17/4/20

Basically unless safety is garrunteed and by that I mean zero chance of virus spread, this season should be void.

People are dying ffs.

posted on 17/4/20

I have no overriding opinion on whether the season should be finished or voided etc. Just do what is bets all round.

But, these articles about what should happen ALWAYS have certain posters wanting the season to be voided and then a load of Liverpool posters coming on to argue why it shouldn't. It is so predictable from both sides its ridiculous.

Hard to disagree with this.

'They only won it because of Corona', will reverberate around grounds - however it ends now.

Shame because some clubs like West Brom were having a great season.

My home-town club have been promoted many times over the last ten years or so, but they're having a nightmare this season, or they were.

So that's one positive

A means to an end I suppose.

Don't see any reason why the PL can't conclude behind closed doors but I can't see many EFL clubs willing to take that kind of financial hit. Would be absolute suicide for most clubs.
