The government didn't event buy the ppe do they? Isn't that the NHS?
Doubt this site has a sizeable enough bandwidth to list everything.
But hey, Matts got a target to meet, so from today, if your a nurse or a delivery driver, or a postman, or if you know a nurse, a delivery driver, or a postman, or have met someone who knows a nurse, a delivery driver or a postman, you get a test.

Can you get the ball rolling with anything PPE related? Did we genuinely not pursue equipment unlike other countries for example?

Watch the Panorma documentary that aired on Monday night. This government did not have 1 single gown in stock available to provide for the front liners when the pandemic broke. They also counted one piece of glove as an item of PPE to inflate the figures.

3) The govt's was only taking the advice that the herd strategy was optimal and that we didn't need to go into a full lockdown as early as other countries.
---------------
Advice that they took because it benefited their view that the economy needed to be protected. Lets be clear, it went against the massive majority of experts in the field and against WHO recommendations. It's easy for them and others to hide behind the "following advice of experts" but it was the advice they chose to take ahead of other advice that was supported by far more actual evidence.

The EU offered the UK the chance to join an EU wide PPE procurement plan but the request was completely ignored. That's a pretty stupid move.

Because other nations were smart to order the PPE, its the UK Gov fault they didn't act in time and order the necessary equipment.

Main one for me, we were far too late starting the lockdown. And there were other countries to learn from.

Feb 03 - Boris thinking he's Clark Kent
April 06 - Boris looking like Clark Kant
Everything the Tories have done since the Pandemic started has been a total failure. The PM has been about as much use as a chocolate teapot.
Perhaps Boris going on holiday is indicative of unforgiveable ignorance and negligence. It shows a lack of anticipation and despise that leadership simply cannot have.
Not read the thread but pretty simply put:
1. Didn’t lockdown sooner which would have been easy to do and the obvious evidence was there based on Italy being our insight.
2. Slow to shut airports.
3. Downgraded PPE requirements initially meaning doctors weren’t given appropriate equipment.
4. Not provided appropriate PPE. Could have invested more in forcing more companies to provide that had the capability, introducing a tax break to PPE companies to help cover costs would have helped massively.
5. Not been appropriately prepared back in Feb - attending more global and U.K. wide meetings would of massively helped.
6. Not this current government completely even though a lot are responsible - underfunded the NHS and tried to deport nurses.

Skipping five cobra meetings wasn't a good idea for Boris.
Oh yeah, I think we're the only country in Europe that's not checking or isolating people who arrive into our airports.
How is it that England is behind some obscure countries when it comes to testing ability, PPE and general preparedness? I thought we was a world leader.
Media isn't really focussing on how much better other countries are doing, instead the focus is on places also performing badly IMO.
