The problem with “giving” Liverpool the title is that you’re giving Leeds the title who are one point clear, Coventry the title who are 5 points clear and Crew the title who are tied on points with 2nd and 1 point clear of 3rd
That’s before you get into the promotion/relegation/European issues
But if you decide to continue the season in a different format, in shorter periods between games etc you are not actually finishing “the season” you’re just doing whatever you can to get to GP fulfillment.
Either way you’re screwed.
But, I have to believe null and voiding the whole season for the whole pyramid will bring less litigation as it’s only gonna be the top 2/3 teams in each four leagues that have a real gripe plus a couple more in the PL for Europe as opposed to probably 6-9 per league if it’s ended as is.
TV is whole other issue but I have to believe if Sky or BT try sue the PL they can kiss goodbye to the next round of rights and, hello amazon welcome to the PL

I have no doubts on that either, and i couldnt give a bakers fluck if theres an asterisk next to it, opposition fans can cling to that all they like.
The bigger issues are european places and relegation. They are still up for grabs. Something will be done to sort these 1 way or the other. Only Prem clubs can survive without fans in stadiums for a prolonged period. Even Leeds and West Brom need gates to make ends meet, TV alone is not enough.
Clubs below the Championship are facked unless a cure/vaccine is found. They rely almost entirely on gates. Only a bail out can save them and they know it. Starting next season behind closed doors will be more expensive than hibernating for them.

In mitigation, the survey was based on speaking to around 2,000 people in the city centre, which while being a reasonable number, cannot definitively be said to be representative of a city of well over half a million people.
Probably conducted on a day when Liverpool were at home as well.

It’s not his decision to make whether the league should be voided or not. If he has concerns he should’ve gone to the club and spoke to them.
He’s not the first high profile blueshiite to gov off though. Can’t think why they’d want the league voided
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
How do you know that he hasn't already approached LFC over his concerns. He is mayor of the city,so he has to take interest in what potentially could happen if football restarts.
He's actually trying to protect the public(Liverpool supporters in particular) from spreading covid-19.Can't see anything to what he's said being either wrong or not within his remit.

So that confirms he has spoken with LFC representatives then.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep, and that LFC are clearly taken aback by his statement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Perhaps the mayor was not overly impressed by what LFC were planning to do.

Surely the lower leagues want the next season to start on time properly ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Only Prem clubs can survive without fans in stadiums for a prolonged period.

Maybe you could pull every hypothetical out yerarse. Doesn’t change the fact he shouldn’t be gobbing off in the press. I also don’t take kindly to the fatcunt’s assumption that me and my fellow fans will ignore social distancing to celebrate. Good to see our elected mayor trusts the residents of the city.

No, he understands what the residents of your city are like.

Good job the PL are able to fund the championship clubs with a £125m bail out thanks to the TV money from the completion of the league.

If the league does resume and some of your set of fans do what he said would happen then he will be proven right.Obviously if no fans turn up at Anfield then he will be wrong.
My money will defo be on the mayor being correct

In mitigation, the survey was based on speaking to around 2,000 people in the city centre, which while being a reasonable number, cannot definitively be said to be representative of a city of well over half a million people.
Probably conducted on a day when Liverpool were at home as well.
