So what do you think Momo, who's winning the debate here?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t think there’ll ever be a winner. I’m firmly in the camp of needing hard evidence to be convinced the parents had no involvement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm just going to assume their innocence until the contrary is proven.

Fair enough Elvis, but in that case then you don’t disagree with my entire point!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Err, which one? I think we've covered a few since we started.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That there’s no credible basis to believe the parents were involved in her disappearance as things stand.

Yeh, because that’s fair isn’t it.

‘Prove you didn’t do it, or else I’ll reserve the right to throw accusations across social media’.

The Internet, 2020.

Bit rich to be taking about fairness, families of poor kids would never have got this much attention and financial support, and families of black kids definitely wouldn’t.

They’d have got a visit from social services though.

Don’t see what that has to do with that I said.

It appears you’re saying they’re fair game to be labelled guilty until proven innocent because of the level of financial backing that has gone into the investigation.

A peculiar standpoint, if you don’t mind me saying so.

That’s what I inferred from your reply to me.

Feel free to explain what you meant, if that is wrong.

Only they know what they did or didn’t do.

I’m just sick of seeing them in the news.

You mean nothing has given any credence to those theories.

++++

the 'just been bad parents by leaving her unattended in bed whilst fecking off to the pub' theory is without doubt an accepted fact by most rational people, Winston.(you are not a parent obviously)

Why you been so holier-than-thou about this?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a parent.

I’m not being holier than thou. I’m taking the position that I think is sensible, right and decent.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I feel sorry for your child(ren), you should not be allowed to have kids

Can we all just calm down? Why do people struggle to accept others may have a different point of view? Talking down to them isn’t likely to make them change it.

Sorry Elvis, that’s nonsense.

How is that in any way evidence of them being involved?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Well the police didn't believe that the window could have been opened from the outside without forcing it. Which would have made a very loud noise. Which was one of the key reasons they suspected the mccanns. And the dogs giving positive results? It would all have been used as evidence in court had the case been strong enough
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Was the the unlocked patio door the point of entry/ exit ?

Why would that have been a key reason to suspect them? Surely ANY suggestion of an intruder would leave the possibility of escape through the window no?

Probably the unlocked patio door. Kate claimed that the window was open when she got back to the room. When the police arrived it was shut. Gerry claimed he had shut it before the police arrived.

1. Why would you even touch the window and potentially destroy evidence?

2. Why would the window have been open? The patio door was open left unlocked and was the easier point of entry and exit. Plus, it didn't need forcing open like the window, which would have taken a lot of force and caused a lot of noise.

The police weren't convinced at all by the Mccanns story about the window/shutter. Or by Kate screaming that Maddie had been taken when the child had been left in a room/apartment with an unlocked door. She could have easily woken up and wandered off.

Surely if they were trying to pin it on a kidnapper via the window they would not have told the police the patio had been left unlocked?

I saw a photo of the McCanns out for dinner in 2015. I don't know about you but if my daughter was missing I would not have time for food. Something not right here.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
They initially said that they had been making their visits on the children through the locked front door, before changing the story to the fact they were using the back unlocked patio door. Another inconsistency.

posted on 8/6/20

Did they initially say the patio door was locked then?

I don't think so. They initially said that they had been using the front door to check on the kids. That then changed to them using the unlocked patio door. I don't think that they admitted that the patio door was unlocked initially.

This all feeds into my suspicion that they lied about how negligent they were. I think that they changed some details to make it look like they were being more careful than they really were. This lead to inconsistencies within their stories, which understandably raised the suspicions of the police. As a result precious time was wasted whilst the police looked into the McCanns. They were so worried about protecting themselves that they stalled the investigations.
