That move from Verstappen today is most likely just a taster for another one coming up in one of the next three races. He only has to take out Hamilton out once and its all over. No wonder Hamilton went off as wide as he did, he was deapearte to avoid contact with Verstappen. Verstappen has his end game plan well established in his head.

Absolutely right. a DNF for both of them is a win for MV.
I think we can all appreciate high quality good racing but that was just poor from MV....taking the inside line and then braking too late to make that corner is just rank awful driving at that level. Max didn’t attempt to make the turn until he hit the kerb. He could see Lewis in front, didn’t brake and the “missed” the apex & ran off. Cowardly and hopefully the FIA take a stance because this could have ramifications for the remaining races

I hope Max gets a huge penalty for that. The fact was he went so wide despite having enough space on the inside line. Lewis got a big penalty in Silverstone for staying on the track in a much faster corner in a much tighter line so Max should have easily made the corner.
I actually thought he might try and take Hamilton out and he would have succeeded if Hamilton didn’t open the steering and got like 20 metres off the track.
Most likely will get a 5 second penalty but that will be at least some justice.

for those who have raced know that you dont need to open the wheel to get the car to drift across the track.
A few different ways, easing of the brakes to carry to much speed will induce understeer and get the car to drift, gradually going on the power ever too early will cause the car to slide and understeer across without opening the wheel. Neither aply in this case, Max's car did not understeer as you can see with the wheel input.
With the onboard you can clearly see that max stops making left turn inputs to the wheel way before the apex, he is delibrately taking a line that is gonna force him wide, it was his intent to put the car exactly where he did. This is why he should be penalised there was no driver error, there wa no loss of control it a very calclated.
I dont mind it however, I like aggressive drivers its a spectator sport after all. But when the cross the line like Max did here he needs to be punished.

In footballing terms, Hamilton was fouled in the area, stayed on his feet so no penalty given. If he had gone down(let Verstappen hit him) then no doubt it would have been a penalty, but it suited Hamilton to avoid contact so rode the challenge.

for those who have raced know that you dont need to open the wheel to get the car to drift across the track.
A few different ways, easing of the brakes to carry to much speed will induce understeer and get the car to drift, gradually going on the power ever too early will cause the car to slide and understeer across without opening the wheel. Neither aply in this case, Max's car did not understeer as you can see with the wheel input.
With the onboard you can clearly see that max stops making left turn inputs to the wheel way before the apex, he is delibrately taking a line that is gonna force him wide, it was his intent to put the car exactly where he did. This is why he should be penalised there was no driver error, there wa no loss of control it a very calclated.
I dont mind it however, I like aggressive drivers its a spectator sport after all. But when the cross the line like Max did here he needs to be punished.

On board footage is finally available to watch and in fairness to Verstappen I don't think he deserves any penalty.

He may not have opened his wheel, but from a position of being behind approaching the corner he moves level/slightly ahead by braking too late, going in too fast, never going to make the apex and running very very wide. If Hamilton had not reacted it would have been a crash.

gonna be interesting if nothing is sad or done about it , how far will verstappen think he can go. He could very well go down the Schumi/Senna/Prost route and just take hamilton out if/when he tries to pass him on track

Black flag and point deduction would stop that if it was blatant.
One thing I do wonder if whether Max will take another engine… his last one was in Russia, another was taken out at Silverstone. I’m not sure you can rely on any F1 engine for 8 races
