McKay binned

Pistol the puppet master is still pulling the strings. He just needed a new face to take the heat off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So, about our 5 signings early in this window…?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’ve got no strings to hold me down, to make me fret, to make me frown.

Jack has been out for so long that surely he can’t be considered as a “first teamer” even if and when he does return.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Interesting view. For what it is worth I still very much consider Jack to be a first team player and a big miss at that.

Could maybe see that argument with Katic purely because he has gone out on loan to gain fitness and we have given his squad number to someone else so thats maybe a bit of a hint.

Would Celtic fans still consider Julien a 'first teamer'?

i think the point he is making i that you need be involved with the first team to be considered a first team player. in thi regard i dont think they regard Julien is a first team player this season

about 30 mins.... he has played about 3 games in over a year. He will have regressed no ifs no buts. So if someone is only available for 1/2 games he is not a first teamer for me not until he gets himself fit

I think we might actually need to cut our losses with Jack he had been struggling with injuries for 2 seasons now. with it being re-occurring its hard to see him getting back to the levels he was at

It's like them losing Calum McGregor for a year.

He's still a first teamer, just an injured one.

posted on 24/1/22

It's only a year i think, he was going to the Euros summer 2021 before the injury

posted on 24/1/22

he has been having the same calf problems since 2020.

Injured calf in Sep 2020 came back in October for a few games then out gain for 2 months. came back in Jan for about a month then out til August, trained for 1 day then out again til Nov 21 and has been out ever since. Anyone that comes back trains for a couple weeks then is out for months on end has some serious problems and they rarely ever get back to the level they were at

if he was out for the year then that season he wouldnt have been a first teamer IMO. To be a first team player you have to be in the team.. If for an entire season you are not then that season no you were not a first team player

Not until he was back to the level he showed before his injury no; but in reality Julien would be an immediate upgrade for us in our weakest area so it would be far easier for him to get back in than say McGregor if he was sidelined for an extensive period as we have far more options in what is one of our strongest areas.

Not convinced Jack would simply replace one of your current starters as again you have decent players who could rightly hold their place even if he did return from injury. And how different do you think he’ll be when he does get got compared to what he was before after all this time?

Maybe it seems like he’s been out longer than the reality mind.

I still think a fit Jack is a better option than Lundstram. Davis has been injured but also seemed to have fallen out of favour with Gio.

Arfield and Bacuna play slightly different roles. Bacuna is pash though. He was shown up by an 18 kid on Friday night. Barker too - another wage thief.

I think there are games where Jack and Kamara would deffo be our first choice in there.

yeah Julian needs to prove hes the julian from before his injury . Hes had alot of time away from football and had a set back or two along his recovery.

Great to see him in and around it again though , hes been missed

Jack from 2 year ago yes, we have no idea what level he s at now though. He will need to train far more carefully in the future also, mis out certain parts of training etc. its hard to think he will get back to his level he was at before, if he can I think it will take a while and eve if he can avoid further injuries we wont see him at his best this season

You say we have no idea what level be at yet also have already written him off.

Agree he’ll take time to get back up to speed. But, even if he’s still not as good as he was, he’s still likely better than Davis or Arfield in that role.

Written him off? no saying he wont be at the levels he was at before is commons sense. Gerrard used 2 holding mids, Gio uses one. Jack wont take Kamaras place as holding mid. Jack wont be at the levels he was at before, if he can get back to those levels which is doubtful then it will take a while to get there

Personally think he’s got the perfect all round game to play the box to box role which is perfect for Gio’s setup.

Davis doesn’t have the legs, Arfield has done well there but I still see Jack as better

Its always teams like Watford that go through all these managers, always the teams that aint mainstay EPL teams that think they are mainstay EPL teams.

Watford are prob the smallest team or close in the EPL (maybe Brighton or Brentford) They have let go of a manager who has proven he do the unthinkable with small teams. I dont know what Watford expect?

As much as I like the guy, he's only taken 7 points from a possible 39 in the league. Said when they lost 3-0 at home to Norwich he'd be gone this week. Being quick to wield the axe has worked for them before, but surely at some point they'll go down? Some pretty awful teams around the bottom though, so I guess they only need to be better than 3 of them. Could be a far lower points total than normal that stays up this time.
