Good article OP. I think both are a tad overrated if the truth be told. The Prem is of a pretty poor quality, where not enough teams are capable of taking points of them like Spurs do.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

When has the quality been higher? Or is "pretty poor quality" as good as it gets?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I really don't know why any body bothers with him anymore.

As for the OP, yeah, Conte has set up well against both us and City and utilises Sons strengths against both our weaknesses (or simply high line).

Your defenders also literally put in 20 quality blocks to stop shots but... good grief it's terrible to watch. For the money Spurs have spent I'd be dissapointed if not embarrassed.

The main point of the article was that City and Liverpool seem to have an air of invincibility about them and opposition teams usually go there without any intention of counter attacking.

Take Newcastle at City later, they'll probably go there, have 20% possession, clear the ball up field without any intent of a counter, defend well, eventually get broken down and lose 2/3-0.

Imo, teams should play Liverpool/City with a bit more bravery. Obviously you'll need to defend a lot, but rather than punting it up the pitch with desperate clearances attempt to play from the back and create situations where fast attackers can break.

Spurs were definitely brave yesterday, the likes of Romero, Bentancur etc attempting to play out through the press. Will obviously get caught out sometimes but imo more teams should play this way.

Conte is Italian he is always going to favour that style. Even if he had an unlimited budget his team will never play like a Pep or Klopp side. Has similarities with Simeone I'd say, both are winners. Does whatever it takes to win.

When Liverpool went decades without a title they stop caring how they won it they just wanted it! Spurs are the same. If they can have a team playing amazing football great but if they have to be a solid countering team to have a chance of medals I'm sure none will complain. Liverpool didn't when Benitez did it. Can't really blame them. I don't think it wins PLs but spurs are so far behind it'll at least get them way closer.

Not long ago spurs were doing better than Liverpool so the fact a draw is seen as such an amazing result kinda shows how much work they have to do. A step in the right direction though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah and it’s a good point about Benitez and the way Liverpool played under him….some Liverpool fans have very selective memories and the anti football remarks I’m sure weren’t used back then….in fact they revelled in it

Some coaches play a certain style and will always play that way and conte is one of them

He does need to find a plan b for the lesser teams though ….that or levy gives him some serious money to spend !

I get what you’re saying but other team outside of those two have attackers with the quality of Son and Kane.

We don't park the bus in games and leave incentives for teams to attack. You will continue to struggle against the low block because you have no creativity in midfield and wing back area.

Lots of salty mousers about today. They really do not accept not winning very well. Worse supporters in world football.

They really do think the whole of football revolves around what they do.

Fair enough but I’m sure he had no issue with Spurs using similar tactics to win at the Etihad.

If everyone set up against City how Klopp wants football to be played there probably wouldn’t be a title race.

Yeah, he's a terrible loser (or even drawer). That's why he is elite I guess.

It may not be palatable but overall it's something I can accept. I can accept it more than moaning about the wind anyway and plus I thought Spurs tactics, for the money they have spent and the stature that they are (pr are supposed to be) was pretty embarrassing but that's just my opinion.

Said the same about Tuchel when he stuck 8 behind the ball against us. I'm more of a go out on your shield kind of guy. No accounting for taste though.

God, some of you Liverpool fans on here are so bitter. Anti football? You had 3 shots on target ffs 🤦‍♂️ at home and had to rely on a lucky deflection to bag a draw. You had all that play and did nothing with it. If anything, Spurs looked more likely to bag a winner and should have won it at the the end. I swear you lot expect teams to just roll over for you and when teams do give you a game in which you can’t penetrate us, you seem to be extremely offended. Happy we ended your title hopes now
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Had 22 shots, yes we had all that play. It wasn’t a surprise when a shot deflected into the goal, when you are set up to block shots don’t be surprised when one goes in an area you didn’t want it to.

We should have taken more shots to be honest we had the play to do it.

I think Spurs are close to be a top team. They need a CB, a wingback and a creative midfielder in the summer window. Conte is a world class manager who will improve them further and it won't surprise me if they will be the third best team next season. They need to find a way how to play against those deep compact defences if they want to challenge for the league.
