Yeah, she’s one of the best. Incredibly knowledgable about the game.

Well this thread is showing a few people up for having embarrassing sexist views.

what's wrong with being sexy?

now if it was you with a leash on and her forcing the glove in your face ......

I'll let you into a secret. None of what you see from pundits on Sky Sports is real. It's basically the blokes version of Made of Chelsea or whatever it's called. They are all acting in the name of "entertainment" so sky sports can put a viral clip on twitter of outraged Keane or Carragher owning Neville or all that crap.

The majority of football fans are stupid so they cater for the masses.

posted on 10/6/22

Roy Keane is an awful pundit. He’s only on there for entertainment value. His actual insight into the game is among the lowest on the tv, down there with Crooks and Merson.

posted on 10/6/22

The whole point of the pundit is they speak from experience of playing at the level being discussed. You wouldn't have a non-league player on as a pundit for PL games, just as you don't have PL players on as pundits for non league games.
Womens footy is widely televised now, all female presenting team as well

posted on 10/6/22

Carragher is ok, Neville is useless. Richards is a 🤡. Ian Wright is wet. Shearer is dry. Danny Murphy is an idiot. The same can be said for Michael Owen and so on.

You forgot Rio. That man is a total fracking moron, constantly left with egg on his face. I would fire him-straight away if I was in charge of punditry

posted on 10/6/22

But if they can analyse the game that’s a different matter, and their level as a footballer is irrelevant.

Mourinho has been the best pundit around for his analysis, he wasn’t a good footballer.

Mourinho managed at the level he does punditry on 🤔

The amount of monngos they have covering live matches on sky sports news just to tick boxes of getting more male pundits on is a disgrace. Most of them can hardly speak but have to give them a chance to stop them from becoming alcoholics

But Mourinho clearly had the ability to analyse the game beyond the level of his playing career, which is how he became what he is. That’s just as liable to be true of plenty of others, and is all that should matter.

Richards talks about CL winning teams so it’s clearly not what is happening anyway.

Was coming on to add this. I would rather listen to Emma Hayes than most of the fellas who aren't Roy Keane.

Never watched it as I don't really watch non LFC games anymore but do they have male pundits / commentators in the women's game? If so, men don't really have a leg to stand on here.

It always feels incredibly forced, that's not really up for discussion but I don't really care anymore. I do if it's a commentator, I don't think women tend to have the right voice to do it but as a pundit I don't really care.

Men face far bigger problems than female pundits.

I’m sure we’re only a couple of seasons away from MOTD alternating between one male game and one female game.

Usually record it anyway so will just “skip to the good bit”

you’re either blinded by bigotry or decades out of date in your understanding of the technical and tactical aspects of the game
———
That’s about 90% of the British fanbase, to be fair.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s a you-get-what-you-voted-for type vicious circle of football ignorance.

I don’t think your average Match of the Day viewer has any idea what they’re missing out on to know to demand better, because all they’ve heard and read growing up is “so-and-so a player is lazy”, “so-and-so a team wanted it more”, “this player had a great game whilst that player was terrible”, and similarly banal platitudes for 90 minutes every week for a lifetime.

That kind of dross then shapes their own level of understanding of the game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah definitely. Though what I will say is that for many fans that have started to discover tactical analysis, it’s gone too far the other way. Tactics are only a small part of the game, and but they’ve been elevated to (and consequently the coaches) chess level by many.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
British pundits just acknowledging its existence would be a start though

Phenom mentioned Emma Hayes. There are a couple of brilliant videos of her on YouTube, including one (I think it’s a CL game) where you hear her instructing her players from the sidelines on positioning, when to engage the press and when and where to sit, what to watch, etc. and she actually manages to do it whilst (when necessary) explaining to her players *why* they need to do it.

It’s a quiet stadium, which I guess helps with that, but it’s impressive to watch.

FFS you are right. Alex Scott is nailed on for Lineker's role when he quits one day too. Yep skipping to the good bits will be the way forward.

lets not forget that when we are talkng about the level that these ladies have played at ........ women football is the equivalent of teenage boys football. The level is no different to what most of us have prob played at .... they dont really have that much more experience of high level football than you or prob les to be fair cos we can relate to the adult male more than they can

I like Emma Hayes, she’s very good. And she sounds like Danny Dyer, which makes it even better.

Yeah, and she’s facking good at it, and I’d warrant a far sight better and far more up-to-date than half of the washed up managers kicking about the men’s professional leagues.
