Yeah that always happens when a player leaves. But that’s not applicable to Spurtle when he’s raised these questions about Kane for a while.

I think we’ll probably look at bringing in a cheap backup striker.

Thuram on a free as back-up

I didnt say it was I said that his opinion will be the ones shared by more and more spurs fans as we go on. until he stays then he is the best again.

I didnt say Spurtle would change his opinion i didnt this wasnt his opinion from the get go, but it will be the opinion that will become more and more popular as the season progresses.

whodunnit you may be right that more Spurs fans come out and say he was never that great. That sounds like it would be more fickleness and/or annoyance at him leaving to go elsewhere talking. I can safely say for me, it's based on what I've been seeing of him in the last 4 or 5 years. I was making these observations of him even during Poch's last couple of seasons.

Anyway, I guess should he go to United and the stats improve then I may have to reassess my opinion. It wouldn't matter though because even if you are getting a Kane who is quite possibly past his best in terms of a goal scorer you'd still be getting a world class player.

Benfica's Ramos looks a very good player too, but I think similarly expensive to Kane / Osimhen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was thinking about him yesterday. Not really heard much of him since the world cup, but had a quick look and he is scoring plenty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ramos has the ability to go as far as he wants in the game, IMO. He’s such a natural forward and goalscorer.

His second against Bruges the other night (a game he absolutely excelled in - two goals, an assist, involved in so much of Benfica’s attacking play *with 28 touches* of the ball) demonstrated what a natural CF he is: he doesn’t seem to think about his movement - it just happens - and there he is, right place, right time, BANG, and it’s in the back of the net before anyone realises what’s happened.

Probably gonna be a EUR60m-EUR90m player this summer. His release clause is EUR120m.

I haven't seen enough of them to judge either, just read a bit over recent months. I thought both looked lively as subs for France in the WC, and that Muani came across as more decisive and dangerous. He has supposedly been in very impressive form for Eintracht this season.

More generally, I'd love for us to correctly identify a £50m player who is about to become a £100m player for once, rather than spending a lot more in the hope that they'll continue to perform at their current level. Of course, I'm in no position to argue KM is in that category.

I’m being facetious, really. I’ve not seen enough of either. I’m more concerned by other areas than who we sign up front anyway.

Worth considering squad restrictions on foreign players. That’s something that will make Kane extremely desirable because he wouldn’t be a shiiiiiit signing made for homegrown quotas.

I read somewhere that Raya counts as homegrown.

posted on 9/3/23

Yeah he does. We’ll probably need to sign a few in the coming year or two. Especially with us hopefully moving on shiiiit like Maguire, AWB and McTominay. Plus there’s also question marks over whether Sancho has a long term future at the club.

I assume Garnacho will be classed as homegrown after this season also

does dalot dates he joined mean he is also homegrown?

From that point of view, how do you view Tammy Abraham through the price / quality / broader squad composition matrix?

Dalot is not homegrown.

We don’t need to worry about whether Garnacho is homegrown or otherwise (he will become so if he stays) for another three seasons - he doesn’t need registering yet.

posted on 9/3/23

Garnacho will be, but he’s got a couple of years until he needs to he registered as a senior player. Dalot doesn’t qualify as he was 19 when we signed him.

Tammy Welbeck isn’t a footballer. Hope that answers your question.

Pellistri will need registering next season so he’ll probably be out. We could replace with Amad (or traffic cone) and he would still be an u21 player anyway.

wasnt sure I knew he joined when he was 18 so might have made the cut off for 3 years between 18 & 21. I know that other players that have joined in Jan window have managed to qualify for homegrown status cos the way the dates work.

Doesn’t look good when you can only make a case for Rashford and Shaw really being good enough to be in the squad over the next couple of years.

This is why I don’t shut up about it

It worries me. We need to see the likes of Garnacho, Shoretire, Zidane, Mainoo, Hannibal, Mengi, and one or two others really come on.

I’d add Sancho to your list though. As a squad player at least.
