I’d say the difference is that Silva and Iniesta were levels above Foden as footballers.

Even with all the talent they had. Spain were a difficult watch - especially in 2010, defensive possession was a snooze fest. The final was awful, the Dutch resorting to thuggery - terrible final.

That's simply non-factual revisionism, though.
They were very defensively possession-based in the 2012 knockouts, not so in 2010 - when they averaged over 17 shots per game and never actually managed to take the lead in any of the knockouts before the hour mark.
It was once Xavi slowed down as a player that the team adapted its tempo. It was always him pulling the strings, so they played to his rhythm.
What you can say is that they were more conservative with the two holding mids -Alonso and Busquets- compred to the 2008 team anchored by Senna. But in South Africa, with the exception of Chile in the final group game, they basically only faced sides who parked the bus and hoped to nick something on the counter.
You could perhaps say they played more safely once they took the lead against Germany in the semis, but there were little more than 15 minutes left in a bleedin' World Cup semi - who wouldn't have tried to see the game out?

More chance of Spurs winning something first given we play to win something every season and with England it's only ever every 2 years, if things go well.
Spurs are definitely the club equivalent of England though. One of the supposed big teams but never seem to win much, in a major final recently, haven't won a major trophy since the 60's. England have even been playing like Conte's Spurs.

it would of been great if he'd come out after the game yesterday and said i got things wrong tonight and i got lucky by the grace of god. ive learned a few things. come on the 3 lions, we can do this. then it would have been easy to get behind him again.
