The Ange quandary

I began not worry about league positions after our players started dropping like flies. The season was a write off for me at the start of December. Especially when you looked at the fixtures and the fact Ange was not given a squad capable of competing from the end of the window.

Alot of posters are still hung up on positions but I'm am fully prepared to take a step back this season, hopefully we can ptogress well in the cups and jammy one.

Already looking forward to next season with ot without Ange. Would prefer it if he said and finished the job the way we all want it to. With success.

I don't really care anymore... I like what Ange stands for and believes in but I think he's at the wrong club playing in the wrong league to be successful.

I don't think it matters how long we give him, how many players we get back from Injury or how many new signings he gets (bare in mind this is Levy in control of the cash) I think his tactics are flawed. Opposition players and managers know it and Im starting to think his own players now do too.

Levy has dug a hole for himself (illustrated by the lack of interest in the job when Conte left) and thats gonna be the case now with the likes of Potter, Amorim and Slott in jobs since we had the last firing.

I would be stunned if Levy isn't already sounding out managers... I suspect someone like Thomas Frank is being lined up or maybe even back to Poch.

A cup run is all well and good BUT when we talked about expectations at the start of the season many of us would have given up top 4 to win a pot but nothing like as bad as what we are seeing in the league over a prolonged period of over 12 months.

I have no issues being critical of Ange Re his way of playing, I admire what he stands for but if he gets binned, he will have nobody to blame but himself. His stubbornness and inflexibility will have cost him the greatest opportunity he will ever get in football.

I suspect you'll find him back in the Football backwaters of Asia or Oz within the next 3 to 6 months

I expect him to be fired if we get beat by Liverpool after continued poor league form between now and then.

I don't think Spurs will sign anyone else this window. I think Ange knows this too.... He's already walking back on his comments that we need "new players to make up the numbers/ deal with the fixtures"

I think Ange is "all or nothing on beating Liverpool". If we lose, there's still plenty of the season left for someone else to salvage

This is indeed good news, we came out with a similar statement 2 days before Nuno got the chop.

This is usually the death notice

There was alot more unrest from the fans back then and Conte was waiting in the wings.

A totally different situation.

I have always said Ange should be judged when he has a near on fully fit squad for a number of months. That hasn't happened since the first 10 matches of last season.

I will judge him at the end of this season.

The fact Levy is running out of excuses is inadvertently giving Ange more time, which can only be a good thing. I don't think he can sack Ange without facing the wrath of a large portion of our fan base and he knows it.

Saying that, I see Diamonds points. It is difficult to see it changing given Ange's rigidity tactically and Levy's tightness with the purse strings.

One thing I would say in response to one of your points - Poch ain't coming back. He'll 100% be USA boss until at least summer 2026. He might be available after the world cup but that's it.

Genuinely happy to hear that but we've got to turn a corner soon because we're gonna be relegation candidates otherwise.

Yeah I agree..... I just think Spurs are developinjg a bit of bad rep not only for managers (Working for Levy/ Losers culture) and Players (Wages, no trophies).... By all accounts Poch is one of few managers who I think wanted the job back but Levy never held talks..... But I agree... I think Frank is much more likely

Ange just hasn’t competed at this level before and it shows. He has the same players trying to run through brick walls game after game and when their bodies can’t do it anymore he turns to the injury excuse.

His record in Japan was nothing to write home about either.

His record at Celtic was mixed, yeah they dominated an absolutely shiete league, but they couldn’t cut the mustard in Europe. The truth is Celtic only need to be at 60% to beat all but Rangers and Aberdeen in the SPL.

Down here, other than Southampton, there is no absolute gimme. Which means you either rotate well or you play a style that doesn’t knacker and cripple you. Jose had us doing the least running in the league - it was grim, but we made a cup final and qualified for Europe.

Ange just won’t adapt, even though it’s not working. His interviews are awful - does he stare at his shoes when he is talking to players? He won’t train set pieces despite us having the worst record in the league at defending them - why is he stubborn about this, it’s just stupid.

VDV was rushed back to make a load of recovery runs against Chelsea and broke down - the medical team seems to have got the blame for that. Where is he going to turn next? We’ve got Miles Jedinak training our players - a clogger from Palace, well we’re gonna need him in this relegation battle.

As for Levy, he is useless at football - doesn’t understand it at all. I’m younger than him so I am just hoping I can out live him and maybe see the club win something again before I pop off this mortal coil. If there is one thing we can be absolutely sure of it’s that Levy will faaack this up - there is a strange comfort in that

He did want the job and I think he was expecting the job. Jesús Pérez posted an image on instagram of him looking at the profile of the current Spurs squad, which was no doubt a tease to an army of fans singing Poch's name. Then, nothing. Ange came in and Poch had no choice but to take the Chelsea job. That's why I didn't hold it against him.

My feeling is that most of that was financial. I'm sure Levy wanted Poch back as it was a bit of a tap-in to get fans back onside, but after his stint at PSG, he wage demands would have been difficult. So basically it's about money... again. Bottom line is that's exactly what's holding us back from top to bottom.

What Spurs do in this window will tell ya everything you need to know about the club's commitment to Ange.

As some have said... Plenty to play for in the Cups and Ange has a history of physically killing his players.... (His tactics/methods demand it) so injuries are gonna be part of life with him.

If we don't do something in Jan I fear we'll finish bottom half and no trophy.....So either Back him or sack him NOW coz more of the same aint working.... Given up caring who's to blame... too many to mention

quotes Ange came out with about not signing a defender cause we have Udogie, Davies, VDV and Romero to come back does really worry me and with that attitude to signing players he wont last much longer

VDV and Romero our starting two CBs wont even give you 30 league games a season, also both not as good as a lot think imo although great players in their own right, Davies is getting on, reliable but not good enough, Udogie has been poor recently and easily up-gradable too

we have quite a lot of forwards and we seem to be prioritising a forward with it likely none of our current forwards will leave and we wont be able to get someone to really significantly improve the team this month

lots has been spent under Ange but that is more to the mess he inherited, however we were 3 or 4 first team players short in the summer, kicking the can down the road with Werner staying and relying on fewer than 2 players for each position across the defence when you have european football

I’m Ange in and feel like he is building something good.

I’ve written off the league this season which gives me peace about some of the results, That said he does need to start getting results in the league to avoid being drawn into a relegation battle - starting with Everton.

I’m hoping we look back on this time as the time we nearly sacked one of Spurs most successful managers in the modern era.

We all know how that will play out - absolutely no chance Levy will financially back him at this point. At best we will get a couple of loans through and if there is a bargain where Levy can flex then he will do that for his ego.

We’re not spending £50m + on the CB we need, £60m on the CM we need and £40m on the RB we need. It will not happen.

I would be amazed if we’re not in dialogue with the next manager already. My guess is we want Iraola or Frank and they have said not until the summer. So we’re trying to skate along with Ange until then - but the closer we get to the bottom 6 the squeakier it will get

Yeah, that's a fair point. If we buy no one in January then you can completely ignore Ali Gold and POK. Not backing him is the clearest sign of club intention.

in any case the fans having to basically right off the league and waste a season of their lives when paying the highest prices in the league is totally unforgivable and thats obviously on the higher ups, who at the end of the day cant be sacked. clearly also cannot see this themselves also, which is a recipe for disaster

agree with you on both players. VdV problem is fitness with his style, also not the best box defender/in the air.

you well?

Romero is massively underrated in my opinion. Watch his game on the ball and then judge. The guy makes a huge difference.
