Its just my pet peeve but is there any chance Ange could look up from the floor in a post match presser.... He almost looks ashamed to be there.... Its embarrassing... surely we have someone to do some bloody media training.... He looks like a naughty school kid
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Strangely enough I think its actually deeper than that. It's a subconscious sign of defeat and giving up.
Contrast that to his interviews when he took over and he was more or less always looking the commentators and camera in the eye and directly.
That's my take on it.

I’m Ange in and feel like he is building something good.
I’ve written off the league this season which gives me peace about some of the results, That said he does need to start getting results in the league to avoid being drawn into a relegation battle - starting with Everton.
I’m hoping we look back on this time as the time we nearly sacked one of Spurs most successful managers in the modern era.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That first line is the part I'm interested in. What gives you the impression he's building something good when we sit in an unprecedented low position with I think an end of season points projection of 43, our lowest ever?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You must be quite young Fridge as we were very much a mid-table team during the whole of the 90's
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Nope, I'm 45 mate. I remember the Hoddle years. All I meant was that, although we were terrible under Ardiles, where we needed a win at Oldham to avoid relegation, we ended up with more points than 43, which is our projected tally for this year. Fully aware of how gash we were through those barren years.

I do plan on writing an article with my feelings on it all rather than derailing a thread. However I am Ange in but not necessarily for the right reasons & I am not too hopeful that we massively improve next season with outer the appropriate signings.
However I think people underplay how bad our injury crisis really is.
Without the appropriate signings *
The injury crisis really is like Newcastle had last season, the big difference being the level of sheit Ange is getting in comparison. Lazy, toxic narratives that our own fans have bought into. Also big signings like Guimeres and Isak who have a huge impact on how games go
I really want Ange to succeed - I don't believe that the way he wants to play is so unachievable or whatever, that it's bound to fail. But we can't keep losing games all the time.

While obviously Howe did some things differently, I don't think that's enough to explain what's going on with Ange IMO. Neville going on about our suicidal high line after Forster gifted United a goal, for example. It's partly xenophobia IMO. The football community isn't used to an Australian being a manager, respecting their opinions on football. Mr England Eddie Howe could chit on the desk at Sky and get a positive review

In addition to that, his in an attacking sense have left a lot to be desired - I like BJ and he is our top scorer, but unless he is scoring he has very little impact. Maddison looks a luxury player. Solanke I like and think will come good, but I’m not convinced we play to his strengths. Werner - awful footballer.
He has a lack of adaptability as well - just to pick a different example from previous ones - playing Dragusin in a position with tactics that are completely unsuited to him. Making Forster play out from the back.

Bollox, people were fawning over Ange when he took over and loved him to begin with. If we’re sat in the top half right now there would be little talk of him, no one and I mean no one gives a schitt he is an Aussie, the problem is we could very well be in the bottom 6 come Sunday night.
The reason Eddie Howe got more time is because he took a Newcastle side staring at relegation to staying up comfortably, to the top 4 and a cup final in the space of 18 months. Newcastle have spent less than us since Ange came in.

Well that's an interesting take on how what happened happened. To be clear, I'm not saying Howe is awful. He's obviously not. But he didn't work miracles - they spent a shedload on top players to turn things around. Of course they didn't need to spend like we did in the last 18 months, cos they didn't need to replace/build an entire new squad for a different style of football. That's a part of the risk of sacking Ange now - you'd have to do a decent outlay to 'back the manager'.
Though fair enough, maybe the xenophobia angle is a bit of a stretch. Though it's definitely a reason why some fans and pundits don't like/trust him. And yeah obviously results are everything. That's why I'm hanging off the fence about whether he should be sacked. But for another bit of real world context, any manager now bears the brunt of fan frustrations (and media pressure) about us not winning anything. That's unavoidable but it's unfair to have that expectation and for him to get so little patience. Though yes, is a separate issue to bring 14th in the table.

We'd be more patient with him if the form wasn't so shocking. I expected a bit of a drop off in the league this season from 5th last year due to the addition of Europe. But nothing as bad as we've seen and with so many consistent losses all the way through the season.

Some would, some wouldn't. Obviously everything gets better with wins, we all want that. But the nonsense about him being to blame for injuries.. Howe didn't get that. Didn't get all the chit for mentioning that we had a whole team out injured. He got lots of sympathy from everyone. Even though they weren't as badly hit..
And I think any manager coming into Spurs has more pressure to win something, anything, than is fair. Because we've not for so long. It would be a much bigger achievement than improving Newcastle with Saudi money behind you

I don't know if he is responsible for all the injuries or not but it didn't seem wise to suddenly throw Romero and VDV into a big game after spending time out injured. Obviously smelt like desperation from Ange.
Yeah there is increased pressure for the club to win something now compared to 10 years ago. If your manager is spending £300m or whatever it is over 3 windows though, there should be increased pressure to win a cup.
Right, but a lot of that isn't on the manager, right? It's not like we won the FA Cup a couple of seasons ago now we've spent all this money and we're further away. Maybe the issue is cultural? We keep having this debate every season, sacking managers every 18 months cos they don't fix everything..

----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure of the answer to this but my guess is that with the injuries and Tonali's suspensions last year, Howe made certain concessions to his philosophy in order to win certain games. Therein lies the difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
While obviously Howe did some things differently, I don't think that's enough to explain what's going on with Ange IMO. Neville going on about our suicidal high line after Forster gifted United a goal, for example. It's partly xenophobia IMO. The football community isn't used to an Australian being a manager, respecting their opinions on football. Mr England Eddie Howe could chit on the desk at Sky and get a positive review
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bollox, people were fawning over Ange when he took over and loved him to begin with.

I do plan on writing an article with my feelings on it all rather than derailing a thread. However I am Ange in but not necessarily for the right reasons & I am not too hopeful that we massively improve next season with outer the appropriate signings.
However I think people underplay how bad our injury crisis really is.

A weak squad, injuries and an idealist manager are a recipe for disaster.

It’s really not that bad, it’s been made to look worse than it is. We’ve got some top players.
But they can’t do it against Tamworth for this manager - that’s a problem

No but we were in the CL a couple of seasons ago and were 14th currently.
