Ange is the worst manager we’ve had in my lifetime bar ossie.
He is completely unable to prepare a team for an opponent and just carts out the same stuff over and over that is exposed over and over by even poor managers like van nistlerooy
The reason players are now making so many mistakes is they just don’t know what they bbc are supposed to be doing or how they are supposed to make this work.
At this point I’d even take Jose back until the end of the season and I stopped watching spurs whilst he was there
Only one manager has come close to making the restrictions levy outs on them work. Levy fired him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Poch and then to lesser extents Redknapp and Jol worked.
The football decision making at this club though is so dire that I'm not sure what to expect with our next appointment and whether we'll do rightly or wrongly by him.
Ange should have been sacked ages ago so to keep him on this long is yet another appalling footballing decision by Levy. Some say it's because of having to pay compensation for sacking before going out of Europa, which would sum up Levy well (profit off the pitch over gains on it) and to be honest I kind of hope it's for that reason, because otherwise it makes not sacking him look entirely incompetent. Appointing wrong managers can happen but you don't keep them on when you realise they are the wrong managers.
My fear is we could next choose a good manager and then in the first sign of trouble, Levy reverts back to sacking too early because of what's happened here with Ange.

Yep, you can’t just keep blindly listening to complete guff, lose every week and then listen to the same shiete again.
I did laugh yesterday when Ange said words to the effect of “we made some mistakes today, which is very unlike us” - err no Ange, that’s us in a nut shell, the same mistakes over and over
It’s weird, I quite like Ange and appreciate a lot of the things he has tried to do and implement. The style of football (when it worked) is what I want us to aspire to do in general. Smart, possession first ideas, counter pressing and front foot defending - similar to what Poch did. The more he drifted away from some of his principles (fullbacks barely inverted since Christmas) the worse and worse we’ve looked.
It somehow doesn’t feel as bad as it is, largely because I’ve grown so apathetic to our results now - and life getting in the way making football less and less important to me. Yet if I take a step back and think to myself, he has made us perform as the 4th or 5th worst team in the league - it is a catastrophic collapse.
Of recent times it has to be de boer, Nathan Jones and Big Ange. Jones looks ok in league one, Ange would do a similar job. League one standard.
Actually strike reading your article again i am choosing Les Reed. His Charlton side i never see a team that looked that bad on the pitch. Got an up close and personal view in 2006 i think it was where we could of beat them 10-0.
I only remember that game because i was sat next to Gary Mabbutt.

Oh nice, Mabbs could probably still start for us currently - lovely man also.
Les Reed faaaacking stank god knows what they were thinking. Venkys lost the plot with Steve Kean - I can’t remember if it was him or another manager that brought Blackburn to WHL, lost 2-0 and failed to have a shot - not shot on target, over 90 mins they failed to have a shot full stop
Awful manager and isn’t this nice guy some think he is.
He’s such an arrogant twaaat and can’t wait until that P45 lands on his desk

I take it all back
Results I would give 3/10.
Squad transformation under Ange 7/10.
Still some work to be done.
Three more windows to get to a point where we can compete on all fronts.

Is that the transformation of turning it from a top half team into a bottom half team? I'd rate it higher than that.
No we he lost Harry Kane and got rid of alot of deadwood. Brought the average age of the squad down as well.
You have even admitted under a better manager this team can do more. I agree but it will not happen over night.

So many start comments with "I quite like Ange..." before going on to talk about his terrible record and I'm always left scratching my head.
What is it about the arrogance, the delusion, the cringe comments, the getting into heated arguments with interviewers, behaviour with fans etc. that is endearing to people? Because he says "mate" a lot?
Every other manager in the league conducts themselves better than this guy.

Well there's a dispute to be had about how much Ange is responsible for the transformation of the squad. IMO the shaping of it is as much on Levy and the board than Ange's direction. Ange may have wanted certain players though. I think whatever manager came in, we were going to sell Kane, alter the defence and have a clearance of fringe players.
What can't be denied is that Ange is getting way less out of it than he should.

Ok maybe not every other manager but a large majority. Managers like Emery, Howe, Iraola, Frank come across as classy, respectful guys. Even Amorim who is suffering the same hardships as Ange isn't going off on one all the time. These are more likeable managers to me.
I get it. You like media friendly managers who are afraid to be themselves in front of the cameras.
I like managers who aren't arseholes yes.
I`m not as anti Ange as some, but he still needs to go, there are no signs of improvement and if anything we are progressively becoming worse. The way we are so wide open and easy to score against (and have been all season) is Sunday league stuff.
I do have sympathy for Ange though, he is another in a long line of managers left short by Levy, he wanted Eze & Neto, he was given Odobert & Werner etc
