Should be Maeda or Murray imo, both have seemed to raise their game this season although neither were chopped liver before they have certainly been better and helped the clubs in their own way

Cal Mac, scored more than usual but is usually consistent season to season

daizen maeda could end up with 40 goals this season and he played 2/3 of it on left wing.

That for me has been the most surprising part, always burst a gut graft wise when playing but throw in the number of goals he's managed is stunning, we do create a fair few chances but he has been so consistent

I am glad that you can all agree on who has been the standout player for Celtic this season. He really stands out.

Credit to all 4 nominees, but Maeda should absolutely stroll it. Phenomenal season.

Isn't the vote taken in February of some such similar farce?

Mind the abuse Maeda got when he started? Aye, I'm sorry aboot that!

If Maeda wins he becomes the 3rd Japanese player to do so and Japan becomes the 3rd highest nationality wins after Scotland & England.

If Kuhn wins he becomes the first ever German winner.

If Calmac wins he becomes the 3rd ever double winner and also the 3rd Celtic player to do so after Larsson & Broony.

If Murray wins every cant will moan and bring up Michael Higdon and almost no cant will bother to turn up to the dinner.

I hope it's close and Wishart has to announce a 3 way tie between the non-gingers.

Despite all this the SFWA will still find a way to give their award to Craig Gordon for the 4th time or some dung Rangers player so that the majority of their members have something to cheer on the night.

I'm sure that the deal is now at the stage where there is huge financial penalties for either side if they were to withdraw from the deal. Basically, its locked in. Also the share issue will allow them to increase their holdings and put money straight back into the club
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nope. All they’d suffer is loss of their costs. There are never any penalties for withdrawing from a buyout. That would only happen if they couldn’t complete after signing but due diligence would identify that beforehand.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Disagree - withdrawal penalties occur frequently. Difference is if they are as material as BB is parroting from Chris Jack then they ought to be declared under any normal market rules but fook knows what Mickey Mouse market Rangers operate under.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I note the announcement from Dumbarton that their potential buyer has had to pull out for ill health and they have forfeited their significant and non-refundable deposit.

In a similar theme it was announced this week that the Oscars Academy voters now must actually watch the films they vote on

"The academy announced a new rule this week that most filmgoers could be forgiven for assuming was already in place: From now on, members of the academy will be required to actually watch all the nominated films in each category they vote in."

You know he has a chance because he will have got almost all the votes from two teams that can't vote for their own players.

Maeda is so fast and hard working he’s already picked up the award, built a trophy cabinet, cleaned his trophies, put them all back …

Fans of Rangers and Celtic make up the vast majority of players in the football pyramid.

They will have to weight the Celtic player votes, i.e give the award to the Celtic player that gets the most votes and not to who gets the most votes overall.

Because obviously players who are Celtic fans will vote for one of those 3 and that will split the Celtic vote.

Then players who are Rangers fans will all vote for Murray.

So they will multiply the Maeda votes by 3 to make sure the split vote is accounted for, and make sure a Celtic player wins it.

Even though Simon Murray has been the best player in the league this season.

What I'm saying is these are the same circumstances that Higdon won. Naturally had almost all the votes from Celtic, Rangers & Rangers fans at other clubs whereas the Celtic vote was diluted by the breadth of their players being voted for. The vote was done before the final 4 nomination but it was the only vote so Celtic fans at other clubs couldn't shift their vote if they wasted it on Lustig so Higdon it was. Not sure they learnt from that?

So you mean the voting reflected that there wasn't a standout player at Celtic? It's an individual award, not a team award.

Higdon very well deserved for an incredible individual season, what the award is all about.

Not what team was the best and pick one of their players.

posted on 29/4/25

Also what do you mean by wasted it on Lustig? If the player thought that Lustig was the best player that season, then how is that a wasted vote and not the best system?

Your suggested system of people switching their vote to make sure a Celtic player wins it, seems far less fair than an open vote.
