Boo hits the bar

Away side started strong then we started finding our men. Should have been 0-1 down after they arised up a one on one. Good control CBT to get his penalty, lovely finish. Kenzo and Thommo have switched. Kenzo on the right of the double pivot. Morris looks a proper Chris Martin so far. Fozzy some clever balls from deep. Nyambe maybe struggling for fitness. Look good when we press a bit easy to play through when we drop.

We look a different team with Morris in. Questions maybe over Kenzo and Thommo against Championship opposition. I presume Y-man will be ahead of Jackson out wide other than that this could be the starting lineup given the injuries we've got.

Nyambe off for Gordon at HT.

Chris Martin..... don't get me excited. Next you'll be saying there's signs of Johnny Russell in Wardy.

This was a great work-out against a technical, possession-based side who played like many Champ sides are likely to play this season.

After a hesitant 10 minute start we took control and looked really comfortable in and out of possession. Midfield took complete control with Ebou harrying all over the park but also making some great forward runs. Thommo and Kenzo weaved some lovely patterns and in fact Kenzo was my MOM with Thommo a close second. K now looks much fitter and stronger and ready for the Champ.

Defensively we looked pretty solid although Batth was caught out once with a lack of pace. JWZ had little to do bar one amazing recovery stop near the end. Nyambe got some useful time in, Fozzie was all calm and experience while Rooney looked to be a complete footballer. I'm not sure if CB is a permanent option for him and wonder whether CM would be more his place.

Up front Morris looked to be the ideal CF with great back-to-goal work and strength. Jackson did pretty well and created one great chance for Brown but I think the ball came too quickly to him. CBT was virtually unplayable. What an exciting player, full of confidence, pace and trickery! Brown did well when he came on but a final word for young Gordon when he came on at RB. Such a pacey athlete. Could it be there is no need to spend a million plus on a RB? I'm not saying he should be first choice but.....

Having said all that I'm not getting carried away but will remain optimistic especially given all the other talent waiting to get match fit.

Being informed the investment we've received will be confirmed after the transfer window shuts. The name mentioned is Tepper, owner of Charlotte FC.

How do you know this Desi?

Just what I've been informed by sources Chicago. Some are more credible than others. This has a 60/40 strike rate of getting it correct. Thought I'd share.

In one sense great, we a billionaire bankrolling us ( if correct) on the other we have a character that's a combination of Mel Morris, Deadly Doug, Italian football owners of the 90s and Sammety Sam.

So in other words here's praying it's someone else or that Clowes has control to run the club in his vision.

It would make sense if that was true Desi. The 7 million fee that raised eyebrows would be us paying ourselves.

Which means Agyemang might not be the player the Eust wanted. Although I think he was trying to get him at Blackburn.

Mixed feelings about it if it is. Seems the US aristocracy all want a football team in their portfolio complete with a pay per view docuseries now.

Maybe I'll write some kind of manifesto about ordinary decent folk taking things back and creating a game that is won on skill and ingenuity as opposed to corruption and monopoly.

We could call the game beautiful.

So did we have a sell on clause for Jovon Makama considering we've done well from this option?

A new name has come up as possible investor in the club.

Found the following, again nothing solid:

Arthur Blank, the American billionaire and owner of the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United, has been linked to potential investment in Derby County. Rumors suggest he might be interested in either a takeover or providing a cash injection for the club. This interest is fueled by Derby County's need for investment following David Clowes' purchase of the club in 2022.

The RB Salzburg midfielder is reportedly set for a medical today with Derby, according to Pete O'Rourke, as the club looks to wrap up their ninth signing of the summer.

Lewis Travis popping up again

Alfie Gilchrist , RB, Chelsea, next name mentioned. Possibly moving away from the Scottish RB Johnston.

If we get Clark and/or Travis I think that puts an end to Armstrong coming back unfortunately. But who knows? Nobody was expecting this in the transfer window.

Bobby Clark has signed

This is a fantastic signing for me, exactly the type of player we need and well above what I would have thought possible in ability. I like Armstrong a lot but Clark is probably a year ahead of him in development and a livelier player. If we can get Travis as well we might be looking at the best midfield in the division.
