Which decade for a look about?

1880s to experience Victorian London and watch Jack the Ripper at work.

Or around 1035-1045 to laugh at Harthacnuts name and meet Eddie the Confessor.

I was thinking 1890s.

I'd be open to 1880s though.

Not sure what the difference is?

OP never said I can’t kill anyone, so I would take Charlie Kirk’s assassin with me back to the 1890s and dismantle the cult of Zionism. Imagine how much better the world would be today without the formation of that genocidal, apartheid ethnostate.

Going back to the second world war would be fascinating
---

Really? Seems like it'd be facking awful

But not fascinating? Both my parents lived through the second world war so heard a lot over the years, can't even imagine the insanity of being sat on a beach or something and watching streams of bombers just flying over heading north to bomb the shat out of Coventry or going the other way and bombing Dresden.

I lived in a flat on top of a hill in south London with the perfect view from the City to Canary Wharf and would regularly try and imagine what it must have looked like during the blitz. Absolutely terrifying and beautiful at the same time.

There’s a couple of nightclubs in New York that I would love to have seen, so I’d say the 1970’s (even though I was alive then, just too young!)

I wouldn’t want to go too far back because everyone died about aged 32 of some hideous disease or plague!

Berlin 1930s nightlife sounds seems like a riot.

Okay lots of street fighting, everybody was skint and hungry and it was politically mental but the cabaret was top reichsmark.

1940s Poland would be a gas

I just assume that any decade up until the most recent ones, everyone was just smashed all of the time. If there was little understanding regarding the health implications of alcohol addiction, and it being a social norm, surely everyone was just wrecked constantly? The middle and upper classes for sure. Could a lot of history have been decided by someone just being steaming?

Imagining great battles of the past but you get there and people can barely stand up. Swing of a sword, miss and fall over and spew. But it's ok cos your enemy slipped on your spew and spewed himself so you both just lie there and one then gets the whisky out and they share a drink and agree to go to the woods and build a treehouse together one day but then a few minutes later they've forgotten about that, and one slits the other's throat.

So battles are mainly won by who gets from angry drunk to building a treehouse in the woods with a stranger drunk and back to angry drunk again, first.

But yeah, it would have been good to see.

The 80's for nostalgia reasons and the 60's, to see if it really was all that!

Tangier whenever the creatives of past eras were passing around STDs like they were trading on the stock market

1890's for me so I could advise the owners of Everton FC to stump up the extra rent for A field. The UK would be a far better place

The comments relating to what difference people could make to the world are interesting, but really the intention was just to ask people what part of history they would like to go to just to have a look around and see what it was like.

I'd like to go back to 1996 and tell Gazza that Shearer's cross was going to get there!

Do you think AI simulation, with VR headset could do this within a couple of years?

If you can create an AI video pretty easily now, based on a few prompts, surely this is already pretty achievable? As in like instantly going back in time to any time you want. Not like making film about it, which can obviously be done.

That would be like saying why not instead of making a computer game, make it all in real life. Build a whole new city and autonomous vehicles and androids, each time you want to bring out a new Grand Theft Auto game? Although that would probably be released sooner..

My AI VR time machine is going to be so good now that I've thought of it. Imagine you could just ask for a one hour experience at the battle of Stirling Bridge or anything you want really. Half an hour with the dinosaurs. The way we create and consume media is going to change dramatically. And attention spans get even shorter, if you can instantly re-write or change what you are watching, by yourself.

Another option for me would've been Dublin 1900-1910, just to check it was true that 99% were with being British.

Would get boring pretty quick though. Although suppose nothing to stop me going somewhere else as well whilst I was there/then.
