I see Bannan scored and was MoM in Wed's win today.
Someone in that mould might have altered the balance ?

So far, whether we play three or four at the back we still lack something and that to my mind is a balanced midfield. Maybe we are more solid defensively with three at the back but certainly, in the last two games we have looked more of an attacking threat following Agyemang's introduction. Clark has been sacrificed as part of this which changed the midfield balance. So far, apart from the Ipswich game, I have been disappointed by Clark but maybe he has not been best employed as yet unless Brewster has also been involved.

I assume we will be at our best when JE is able to field his preferred eleven and whatever that may be I hope we will have more pace and penetration down the flanks and more guile in midfield. Maybe Johnston and Beck can provide the former but does that mean three at the back? CBT would be an obvious option if fit but that presumably would mean four at the back. While BBD showed some classy movement and short passing he never looked like taking on his fullback especially on the outside.

I will be great to see what JE does with a full squad. He will have great options and no excuses if things do not improve.

As we approach the close of a disappointing fishing season, hopefully things will improve on the footy front. Not very convincing so far.........

We have now played 5 of the top 7 plus Ipswich.

I didn't see the game but judging by the transfer window I think a back 5 will be our goto home and away. I am hoping Beck can offer a bit more width when fit. Then I think it will probably be Allardyce ball, hoof to Andy Caroll aka Morris then play a bit when he gets it down. I don't think we have the personnel to play through the lines, maybe there's a January signing in the offing but until then I think it will be crash, bang Eustball.

Which I do feel will become more effective. If Travis is the cornerstone of the Eust's Derby we're only 2 games into the season.

“Can’t play through the lines” seems about right so what CAN we do? Eustace has tried Adams a a sort of rampaging 10 but that hasn’t worked. Tommo is rumoured to be out for a while so even if there was a thought of adding Ozoh to play a midfield three we would have no back-up at all in that part of the pitch.

So it has to be a 2. I think Wellies may be right, the most effective tactic might be to lump it at the moment though that’s a bit grim. When Paddy came on Morris was dropping a bit deeper - maybe not as a conventional 10 but could that be more of an outlet, playing to his feet? Brewster can also play as a dynamic 10 behind the main striker. Or we try Clark there to see if he can have more of an impact than he does out wide.

Regarding Dìaz, I do think he's not a wide player IMHO & would be better playing off a big CF like Morris/Big Pat but we have no genuine wide players......

I've also considered BBD as an old school burly CF but he's been used as a winger many times at the clubs he's played at. Given his international experience his confidence will be shot and he'll need time to re-adjust. Unfortunately as we're struggling to create he's not exactly feeding off opportunities, just yet.

Playing the system we did against a team that plays 5-3-2 was going to be difficult. We need to consider a midfield three of

............Clark - Travis - Ozoh(?)

BBD.........................................Brewster ( on return )

...................Morris.........................

We're lacking something but given our excellent transfer activity I'm certain there's a system to make us tick. Perhaps we stick with the 5 at the back with Travis and Ozoh in the middle and a three of

...........................Clark..............................

.............Morris...................Agyemang......

Relying on Johnston and the return of Beck to provide the ammunition from wing back

Let’s hope Eustace pays as much attention to the advice on here as Paul Warne did …

The omens are looking very long bally and set piecey. Poor Kenzo never had a chance. I hope we can be a bit more pragmatic about though. Not completely like Nuno at Forest. Tbf Big Sam's teams did play the ball after the CF had won it. It's just not a great watch when two teams do the same.

Does feel a bit like athletes over ballers though.
