The Copa America, which is set to start on Sunday, can go ahead in Brazil, the country's Supreme Court has decided.

Judges held an emergency session on Thursday to consider requests to halt the competition because of the coronavirus pandemic.

It was argued that hosting the tournament would endanger the lives of thousands of people.

The judges said that the Brazilian constitution did not give the court the power to block it.

But they said that state governors and city mayors should do more to ensure "appropriate health protocols" are respected.

They also expressed their dismay at President Jair Bolsonaro's last-minute decision to stage the tournament, which will be held with no fans in stadiums.

Teams face mandatory testing every 48 hours. Their movements will be restricted and they will travel to host cities aboard chartered flights.

The tournament, postponed from 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, was originally to have been staged in Colombia and Argentina.

David Moyes is on the verge of committing his future to West Ham.

Moyes, 58, has been in discussions with the Hammers since the end of the season over a new three-year deal.

There was uncertainty after it became known Everton had put their former manager high on a list of potential replacements for Carlo Ancelotti.

It had been anticipated Moyes' West Ham future would have been made clear by now, but it is understood there are no issues over the new deal.

At West Ham, Moyes feels he is capable of putting together a squad that can challenge towards the top end of the Premier League on a regular basis, as he did when he was in charge at Goodison Park between 2002 and 2013.

The manager is in his second spell at London Stadium, having returned in December 2019 to replace Manuel Pellegrini.

Over the past 18 months, he has taken West Ham from a relegation battle to Europa League qualification.

Novak Djokovic ended Rafael Nadal's reign at the French Open with a four-set win in a classic semi-final which will be ranked among the all-time great matches on the Roland Garros clay.

Serbian top seed Djokovic won 3-6 6-3 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 against Nadal, champion in each of the last four years.

Nadal, going for a record-extending 14th title, lost at Roland Garros for only the third time in 108 matches.

Djokovic, 34, must now recover to play Stefanos Tsitsipas in Sunday's final.

I'm looking forward to it but I agree the structure is a farce. It should be 4 groups of 4, top 2 through to the quarters, no need for a round of 16
