Pep was the first manager to play Messi as more of a right forward instead of a winger and then eventually the false 9 though.
It's a chicken or egg scenario but personally don't see him consistently banging in 50+ a season if he was never converted to a false 9 which is all on Pep.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I wouldn't say Pep converted him tbh. Messi was versatile and it was only a matter of time IMO. Messi would be the goat too, Pep or no Pep.
Also with Pep lets not forget the 115 benefits plus Spanish refs getting additional payments from the club during and after he left Barca. That is another charge hitting the courts. Corruption has followed him even if he was not directly involved but still benefitted from it.
Probably the only cloud hanging over him tbh
Apart from Bayern
Chris Kavanah confirmed for league cup final. He is actually one of the decent refs and our record with him is pretty good.
John Brooks is on VAR.
He's the new Michael Oliver
Just hope the final is better than the last finals against Chelsea tbh!
Trent out or is that old news
I don;t care what the final is like, as long as its the same outcome
Winning on penalties is always the most fun and also infuriates the Mancs the most on here, so I'm all for that again personally.
I just want a boring 2-0 cup final win in 90 mins. We always make finals way too exciting and tense.

Chelsea bringing on a penalty specialist keeper, who failed to save a single penalty and then missed his own is one of my favourite moments in football history.

And he got embarrassed by Fabinho & Van Dijk

Only time that’s ever happened for us is against Spurs, and because it’s Spurs it doesn’t count.

Not good for the blood pressure though.
The CL final against Spurs is my ideal blueprint - early goal, never look threatened and then make the game safe late on. Absolutely textbook for me.

Remember the Kepa refusing to go off episode a few years back too, again they lost on pens. Chelsea are a banter club these days.
Remember when Chelsea were actually a force? Feels a very long time ago now.
They've still won a surprising amount last few years

Shame we’re not in the CL this season as they have Kepa in goal so could have been our chance

Also a high chance of Bellingham and Tchouameni dunking on us though
I'll settle for the 08-09 double-leg, most complete demolition of a team I've seen from us until Klopp came along
