Striking trade deals won’t be high on anyone’s agenda right now, which is why it’s a bad idea to not extend the transition period.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don’t think there will or can be an extension, a law was passed to leave on 31st with or without one

Unless they go back to Parliament to undo what’s been set in law

That’s exactly what they should do.

Italy and Spain will be the 3rd and 4th biggest economies in the EU after we leave.

----------------------------------------------------------------------Well we’ll have to see how Boris plays it

The real cynic in me wouldn’t be the least surprised to see Boris use this virus crisis as some sort of leverage so that when the 31st Dec comes, hell leave no matter what and then be able to blame the current crisis for tying his hands, so that we leave without a deal

I hope he doesn’t, and whatever decision he takes, it’ll be with the interest of the whole country at heart 👍🏼

Boris only ever makes a decision with his own interests at heart.

I accept that

But most people on here are in some way slightly demented

the impact of coronavirus, may be understood to you

You have no idea, do you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
again, how many do you think this will kill?

its been 3 months now, we're at 30k, it seems Asia, Europe and North America are saturated so we should see the peak very soon.

lets assume it suddenly goes up 10x (which break the curve int he model but still) so 300k

3.8m died last year of respiratory illnesses, if we add on 300k that's a roughly 7.5% "spike"

just because the media have you all locked down to protect the elderly and infirm please don't make out this is th next wave of bubonic plague.

I just find it quite fascinating we don't lockdown every year to stop people spreading influenza or rhinovirus, ban smoking to reduce emphysema? I mean these currently cause 3.8m deaths a year and all could be managed with lockdowns and bans but lets shut up shop for 7.5% spike
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Jesus Christ.

Its incredible how some people still dont quite seem to understand what is going on here

Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe got an extra 5 years in an Iranian prision after Bojo intervened.

I'm glad he's there to lead us through our biggest crisis in 80 years.

Jim - you clearly have no idea of situation of hospitals. This spike is not possible to control or manage. Hospitals are struggling and for example Northwick Park declared a critical incident recently as it no longer can deliver care to its patients to an adequate level. This could happen across the country and then even standard cases such as cancer ops won’t be able to be done, trauma cases attended to in an efficient manner due to covid patients being in Intensive care.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But that doesn’t mean this is some mega deadly disease

The reason the hospitals will be overrun is because there are just 150k beds available at any one time for nhs care.

So if there is a disaster it’s because of terrible government spending and planning not because of the disease.

And UWW if that’s true thats an outrage

Hospitals should not be prioritizing this over other key surgeries and I fear they will.

So all those who believe covid19 will lead to a spike will be wrong it will be the 40 year old who dies of cancer not the 80 year old who is saved from covid19 only to probably die later this year of something else who will suffer.

That’s the tragedy in all of this

But.. but... But...

It is some mega deadly disease! You can argue everything else that is wrong with the world. But this disease is mega, it is deadly, and it needs to be treated as such.

And the point that UWW is making is that hospitals are already at breaking point. To neglect this and not fight it head on isn't even an option. It has to be done, and the damage has to be limited as much as is possible and we have to do everything in our power to do so

ok snowflake

This disease which experts far smarter than anyone on here have claimed has infected atleast 10x the reported figures if not more and this has probably a death rate of 0.5% maybe lower is going to wipe the planet out.

The only reason for the mass hysteria is suddenly we care about the elderly when we clearly don’t during flu season, it’s exposed hospital failings and social media hype

That’s all, probably be 10m reported infected by the end, chuck in 500k deaths onto the existing 3.8m respiratory illness deaths we have a year And we all go back to normal waiting for the next overblown crisis once more

Hard Brexit getting closer?

Well at least we’ll already be used to the isolation, the empty shelves, the mass job losses and the poverty.

probably won't though will you, no-one seems to give a cr@p about the real killers and instead focusses on a slightly more aggressive flu with a fancy name

"Real flu"? Ffs this is twice as lethal and is 4 times as infectious as "real flu." It's 8 times more lethal. With no vaccination! Your crusade is ignoring basic facts
