That’s the key difference, produce. Australia has some of the best produce in the world, the UK has potatoes.

😂

Someone clearly wishes they had the means to live anywhere but England!

Tbf the Sydney food scene is as well regarded as any major city in the world. Come and visit and enjoy the influences from around the world with the freshest food you can get.

Isn't Australian farming completely and utterly fvcked after about 24 plagues?

I live in London, it has great variety and diversity of food, which the rest of the country lacks. I’d happily live abroad than somewhere else in England.

Well no, I'm going by googling which cities have the best restaurants and then getting bored whilst scrolling down for anywhere in Australia.

Our mice plagues are legendary but there’s so much land it doesn’t even make a dent. Once Covid is gone, come visit and I’ll take you on a tour of the fanciest places

There’s not a place on the planet that has the variety that London has. That doesn’t mean that food anywhere outside of London is awful.

Sydneys food scene is a little erratic

sure you have some really great restaurants like Aria and Quay and anything Neil whatshisface pops up with but the vast majority of my memory is cheapish asian joints or the obsession with gourmet burgers.

dont even get me started on the obscene prices for just about everything

Your opinion seems at odds with the entire internet but fair enough.

New York would have something to say about that

Darren

I’d say New York does quite easily.

not so sure about that, you need minimum $200,000 AUD a year to just live around Sydney, you give up nearly 50% in taxation plus the constant tax add ons like flood levy, budget repair levy etc

rent would easily chomp away half that remaining 100k, doesn't leave an awful lot left to go spend 200+ a meal for 2 every time at decent places

I’ve travelled round England for holidays or visiting friends and generally the food has been pretty forgettable. I’m not visiting Michelin star restaurants, I mean good variety of cuisines. I’m sure there are some good places but generally (which was my initial point) the food around England isn’t great.

it doesn't, but im pretty sure Melbourne and Sydney constantly make top list of most diverse cuisine, alongside the usual suspects of Toronto, Chicago, Berlin, Paris, LA, SF.

so to have 2 cities in a country with 1/3 uk population is punching above your weight

I’m only on $110k and live quite well here. Don’t have kids so gourmet food is plentiful. Chatswood is the place to be nowadays for the best Asian street food I’ve ever had.

id say most people think Australia is just bogans in wife beaters and pots of VB driving holden Utes and smoking Winnie blues to be fair.

dont really understand how diverse the population in those 2 cities particularly are, real melting pots of expats from just about everywhere
