I tend to agree with you Simon. None of our keepers is good enough to be our number 1. I’d prefer to sell all 3 of Sanchez, Kepa and Petrovic and get a decent keeper - if one is available. I also think we should get rid of Jorgensen and make Penders our number 2. At least he will get a feel of the club, and even if he’s young he can’t be any worse than Jorgensen.

Which is why letting Kelleher leave Liverpool and not try and buy him is frankly unforgivable

£25 million being mentioned for a fee for Petrovic if he leaves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We're utter mugs. He's way better than Kepa who we paid like 70 million for a few years ago when prices were lower 😂😂. Only to sell him for 5 million all these years later
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Dont like to be the bearer of bad news......but Pets ain't much better than any of our keepers unfortunently, he was a slight improvement on a crappy Sanchez and even then Sanchez is a much better shot stopper and Pets also had a few howlers last season with decision making etc and conceded some poor goals. The fact of the matter is none of our recent keepers are that good and all are the quality of a sub keeper at best for a team in the Champions League, or who have any sort of higher ambitions than second rate Euro comps. We need a no1 this window!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I disagree about Petrovic. He's a definite step up from our existing keepers. And I'm not saying Petrovic is perfect but he definitely improved us in nets when he displaced Sanchez in goal in the Poch season. And Petrovic has by all accounts been brilliant in France this last season, so I'm sure he's improved further as top young keeper. He certainly doesn't get the love he deserves at Chelsea for whatever reason and he's clearly off elsewhere.
And I think we'll come to regret selling Petrovic, certainly if whoever we bring in as number 1 doesn't do the business. Which frankly isn't improbable given how bad our transfer business has been with keepers post Courtois. Exemplified by letting Kelleher slip through our fingers. If we're not willing to make Petrovic number 1 then Kelleher would have been a clever acquisition.
Let's just hope at this point we get Maignan this summer because I dread to think who else we end up with in nets if we don't. As things stand we're a laughing stock with Sanchez in goal. Opposition fans find that to be a continual source of much amusement.

So even a level headed vet coming into his twilight years, or even just say fook it we trust Penders and say lets go with chucking him in at the deep end. Like honestly I don't see many upgrades on what we have, so seriously lets say fook it - wonder if he plays next week at all
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of us have seen Penders yet there seems to be this massive overeliance at the club on Penders being our next Courtois. Like we're just expecting this guy to be brilliant and solve our GK issues for the next decade or more when he's ready to be our number 1 lol.

Sanchez ain't a better shot stopper. It's one part of Sanchez's game that isn't total sh!te but Petrovic did it better in 23-24. Sanchez still lets in the occasional 'oh wtf' goal (e.g. Sarr's disallowed goal vs. Spurs), Petrovic can't keep out bangers but I don't remember him letting in any where you think he should be saving them.
By Chelsea keeper standards of the past I don't think he's it. He's a Begovic (cracking backup). That would've been fine for now.
I am curious about whether we'll sign the Burnley keeper James Trafford, ex-City academy — sort of thing we'd do.

Yup Petrovic >>>> Sanchez. Even if you don't rate Petrovic that highly he's still a definite step up from Sanchez who never in any reality should have been Chelsea number 1. Certainly not for as long as he has been. He's a number 2 keeper, not even a great one at that tbh.
