muffinboy..............................greasygreaves back to his best in altering screen names. bless the old chap..

Originality is obviously not a word you have come across is it? You have used this phrase at least twice prior to using it this morning.

RDBD....................................Sometimes you have to accept that people like Stinky comment on situations etc that they actually have no knowledge of whatsoever!!

Graves - After reading the link I posted it would seem I do now have some knowledge.

Stinky..............................You might have read the article but do you understand it?

"You might have read the article but do you understand it?"

Evidently not.
The "manipulated" windmills of the mind.

But I do though.
Poor old Stinky, he provided every argument supporting my claims with one article.

"He admitted that his actions had benefited no one but himself and, at the time, claimed that the only thing that could save Britain was a common single currency"

"As early as spring 1992, Mr Soros had decided that the pound would have to be devalued because it had been pushed into the ERM at too high a rate."

Both those statements are open to interpretation imo.

Anyway, does your owner live abroad to avoid paying tax or not?

"Both those statements are open to interpretation imo."

Nope.

He acted in that amoral greedy way hedge fund bods do.

He acted on professional instinct that Sterling was weak, and that if he could get the backing a killing could be made in hedging against it remaining in the ERM.

The rest is history.

"Anyway ..."

Does this have anything to do with "manipulation" ... ??

Anyone who can borrow £6.5bn to basically place a bet must move in some very influential circles so I will stick with my theory that he and his cohorts applied a little 'manipulation' to the scenario.

Fair enough. Pure fallacy by definition of course.

I'm sure after he and those involved are dead and the laws of liable no longer apply, more information will be unearthed.

Good luck with that (finding it, living long enough to see it etc) .

Yet another reason I hope I don't die tragically young.

Stinky.......................Firstly its LIBEL..

Secondly, Lewis lives in the Bahamas (which has a British Governor General, even though it is an independent member of The Commonwealth) and has business interest in a number of countries.
All of these companies including ENIC pay full taxes etc in the countries they are located.

Lewis owns The Tavistock Group which is one of the biggest sponsors of charitable foundations in the World. Indeed only Warren Buffet & Bill Gates have donated more individually than Lewis to charitable causes.

People become rich for various reasons, some through murder & corruption, some through regimes of power handed down by the family and by repression of their people (have you read up about your owners?) and some through speculation & high risk investments..........................................

Ted Turner?

posted on 2/8/12

And your point is??

posted on 2/8/12

First name that sprung into my head as I know Ted Turner gave away $2bn but I certainly can't be arzed researching your claim.

The whole point of my comments on here is in answer to the fact the Spurs fans are always adopting a holier than thou attitude to money in football but will go to any lengths to defend the people who hold the purse strings.

What specifically are the "Spurs fans" defending ??

All I see as far as things go, is you that cannot attack THFC as tis run, cannot defend <Citeh> as tis run, and so persist with ad hominem attacks on Joe Lewis.

And even dem you get factually wrong.

Tell us exactly what you wish to sayabout Joe, and we'll do the wording for you to avoid further on your part.

Why are you bringing your owners into this conversation?

posted on 2/8/12

Graves - If you're happy with that then so am I.

posted on 2/8/12

Nothing to be unhappy about is there?

posted on 2/8/12

Nothing at all, we're both extremely happy with our respective owners.
