I believe McCoist can cut it as a manager yes.....what he needs to do is be a maanger and not "one of the lads" and coming out and slating his players in the manner that he has done is a big step towards him stamping his authority down a bit more and BEING a gaffer and not a player with a manager's coat on which is what he's been guilty of a bit too much before now.
The players who are at the club should be here to play for the club.....nearly every game we play this season will be in the 4th teir, in a second rate league agasint teams like Berwick.
Emotional ties or not, these guys are here to be players for this club...who they are playing should not matter a jot when it comes to the simple job of applying themselves to matches and putting some effort in. I'm not asking for 100% effort, but an SPL team playing at about 50% of its level should do better than we did yesterday!!
The players here know what this season is going to be all about, they knew that when they signed up, they knew that when the came from the SPL down.
How can I put this.......if some burd marrys a boring bastirt and later has an affair, coz he's a boring bastirt.....she would get no sympathy off me coz she married that boring bastirt in the first place.
The players signed on for this club, they are getting paid by this club....not putting the effort in coz the club is in division three is not an excuse....they knew we were in division three when they either decided to stay or joined up this summer, so get the finger oot and do the job you are getting paid to do

St3vie, lots of good points there, and I agree that the players should do better.
But I think McCoist should have bought the best of the best in the SFL. Guys with lots of lower league British experience.
How are guys like Sandaza going to cope in horizontal sleet in open ended stadia in January?
My biggest argument against McCoist would be the players he has signed, with the exception of Black.
OP - 100% agree. The players have to look to themselves.
If they are here to get a move somewhere else, knowing that even in the 3rd division, Rangers will still be all over the tv, papers etc., then fine.
But they only get a move if they perform. And very few did that yesterday.

It was a terrible performance on Sunday. Totally lackluster.
Glad to see Ally having a go at the players. I dont think he's under any illusions about how hard this journey will be but I think a few of the players might have thought it would be a case of just turning up.
Hope Coisty sits the lot of them down this morning and tell them a few home truths.
I'm still confident of winning the division but several players need to screw the nut.
I'm still confident of winning the division

Have 5 stars , I agree Ally is NOT to blame , please dont blame him.
Ally must stay
Totally agree Stevie, how anybody can blame McCoist is beyond me. The players need to get the finger out thier erses
Oh the irony of Celtic fans coming on to slate Ally, because;
He blew a big lead in the league (2010-11 not ringing a bell?)
He got papped out of Europe (Braga, Utrecht, Sion not ringing any bells?)
His team struggled in the cup (Ross County, Hearts, Rangers, Kilmarnock not giving you a wee reminder yet?)
We drew with a team who had a fraction of the budget and we were widely expected to hump (Ross County last weekend not ringing any bells?)
Selective dejavu from some of you cants...

Only a deluded bear would try and comfort himself with such stats
We are all delighted with Lennon for many reasons , most notably with his signings and his progression in management - hes done a superb job turning around the Mowbray mess and we now have a young , talented balanced squad .
do you feel the same about the man who doesnt walk away
Dont try to compare the two - you will only look a fool
Would Ally have won the League under normal circumstances last season?
We'll never know!
It is quit unbelievable the amount of flak that Ally is receiving today, sure the team were well below what is expected of playing for Rangers , I for one am totally confident that Ally will sort this out sooner rather than later and he will have us back to the top where we belong, In Ally we trust, Nobody said this was going to be easy and will take time and investment. As usual Ally will come out of this as total winner . WATP
We'll never know!
Think we all know really, looking at his record in management

As opposed to the total loser tag he currently has?
Swings and rounabouts gents.
Mccoist picks the players.
mccoist signed the players.
Mccoist picks the tactics
Mccoist does the team talk
Mccoist takes training and prepares the team for the match.
I agree with playets letting the club down sometimes, it happens. But thats 3 away draws if im including 90 mins at brechin, so mccoist has to take the brunt as well.
He signed the players, and he should motivate them enough. Man gets away with murder imo lads but thats just me. To each their own.
Tornado, ONLY a fool wouldn't compare the two, by trying to sweep away Lenny's failings
Given the stark difference in circumstances, and the way Lenny has been gifted some silverware, yet still failed miserably in almost all cup competitions, you can hardly call Rangers fans "deluded" for backing Ally, when Lenny has done the same and worse.
So you have a young, talented, balanced squad - I would hope so with the huge number of players assembled under Mowbray and then the 27 he forked out £15m on himself, as well as massively inflating your wage bill (another fact, you like to sweep under the carpet)
And only the "young" part has been proven.
To date, this "talented, balanced" squad has proven very, very little, either at home or abroad

What big lead, you tart? He went to Ibrox in January of that season, with a makeshift team, where losing would have resulted in Celtic going 8 points behind!!!
But if you feel the need to protect Ally's abysmal performances in SFL 3 by comparing those exploits with Lennons' in Europe...away you go

A bitter bear for pointing out the fact that you're ripping Ally for exactly the same things Lenny did ffs
Get a grip man...if you don't like facts, then that's up to you
1. You did not beat Sion at all. You were pumped out of the same competition twice. You got in through the back door and don't you forget it; simply because the Swiss FA had imposed a transfer ban on them. It's hardly like these minnows were away signing superstars...ffs they've just signed Laffbot!
2. Well done.
3. Hate to say it, but you're not there yet, and it would be foolish to think otherwise, given recent cup happenings.
4. In a one-horse race - and for the first time this season - again, well done
5. Some fools paid £10m for McGeady, flattering his net spend figures. Again, you neglect to factor wages into this
It's like John Greig's managerial stint all over again(except lopwer)...wait till the attendances start dropping off
