Rooney Back In Contention???

leave it tonight, back on the bench sunday hopefully

Yeah I wouldn't play him tonight, but hopefully he'll be back and with a point to prove in the coming weeks

He needs time out to get his head in order. He's been pants for ages now. Stick him on the bench and let RVP get a load of games. Look at the miss by RVP on Saturday, within seconds of coming on he almost scored. If that were Rooney he'd be helping out in defence so wouldn't have been in any position to get on the end of the cross.

I do believe Wazza needs to up his game, hopefully the signing of RVP will aid that

I'd actually believe that story, the Mail broke it first and they're ridiculously reliable for team line up news. It's well early for him to return though, I'd put him on the bench tonight and ease him in later.

If RVP is fit and Hernadez & Danny show the same fight they did in the Wigan game, then i see no need to take that risk!

Yeah, he's been pants for ages. Stupid fat guy only scoring 35 goals last season.

Hope he starts on the bench and hope he gets some time on the pitch, the sooner he's back to full match fitness the better.
Rooney and RVP will be a partnership to behold.

its a superficial injury though Arab, if its healed its healed, i dont think its a question of him coming back to early mate.

What we do need is him getting back to full match fitness

posted on 19/9/12

He's been training for 5 days apparently and the only way to get match fitness is to play games.
I wouldn't be surprised if he starts tonight tbh.

Like someone said, it's only a superficial injury and it's been nearly a month since it happened so it's about now we expected him back anyway.

RVP and Rooney up front tonight? Fingers crossed.

Sorry Dunc, was too lazy to scroll up

Don't think he'll start tbh but could be wrong, SAF seems very focused on putting right our mistakes last year, so I could see RVP starting and SAF hoping we'd get a lead and replacing RVP with Rooney in order to rest him for the weekend and get Wayne some game time

Rooney should not even be on the bench.

Btw Funrob, i perused a few serialisations of Rooney's second book (second autobiography in a five-book deal - as if our Roon could read or write) over the weekend and he revealed that he struggles to keep his weight down during the off-season and that he often returns from his summer vacation several pounds overweight: if this mea culpa is not a damning verdict on his professionalism and, above all, his ability to harness his ability; i don't know what is.

That's the only issue I have with him, think he's a brilliant player, but he should be keeping himself in shape

Red

I prefer to look at how he is during a season and always keeps his weight down and always delivers on the pitch.

Like the old saying goes 'judge a player in December, not August'

And pray tell me why you think he is not in shape? He looked in very good shape at the start of the season, as good as he has ever been.

Every players come back from holidays with a few extra pounds. I think you forgot to mention he also said that he loses those extra pounds quickly in a couple of weeks (meaning before the season even starts). You have to understand he is writing a book and he will have to write stuff that people think is interesting even though it is dull and boring common occurrence.
