Neon, the 'conditions' don't mean anything if you can't field a side that can't win test matches. Pakistan were coming off the back of some good results and i think are a lot tougher than they were back in 2010. I think they would give you a real run for your money at present. As to the 5-0 result well, Englands form in 1-day cricket has been shall we say spasmodic. One day brilliant, the other shambolic.
The point is, if you make rash judgements don't expect not to be ridiculed afterward.

Get to 300 and India will have all the problems... theres no way they will bat past England.. so they will be under pressure batting last..

England just need to occupy the crease. Another day of ticking tocking around and it should see them through to a comfortbale series victory. A well deserved one.

Still cant get over it - 32 maidens Folkkk me 32 maiden overs.....Jeeezzzzz.

neon its stupid of us to say a 5-0 odi victory means anything in tests.

tho i do reckon India didnt play to its standards more than anything. need to get this 5 batsman and let viru do his job.

deary me Neon your non-de-plume of 'On and on and on' really does suit you doesn't it?
Ok, let me add this one for your benefit then - in test match history England have won 38 tests to India's 19 that means for every 1 you have won we have won 2 to spell it out. Against Pakistan we hold a rather less favourable one of 22 wins to Pakistams 16. For some reason we find it harder to beat Pakistan.
So, to spell it out - IF I had bothered to make a prediction i would probably have JUST edged it in India's favor? As Virud suggets its pretty inane of anyone to judge a test match series on a bunch of one dayers.
Get over it Neon, you are just droning on and on about this. If you want to think I have criticised people unfairly then thats entirely up to you. I happen to think i did it on some fairly sound prnciples

'A streak of yellow' eh? you HAVE wounded me Neon
I fail to see why I can't base evidence on history betewen these teams, Y0U are basing it on a very SHORT period of time (!!) and the fact is that India have only ever ONCE whitewashed England in a series. We have done it 5 times to you. What did anyone who suggested it would be 4-0 think the chances of a whitewash were? I'll bet you could have got very long odds on it.
I'm done on this issue quite honestly, however my prediction on you answering is....ahhh what the heck i can't even be bothered making THAT predcition!!

Let Viru do his stuff?.. If he plays with an open stance like he does. England bowl straight at him.. Hes finished The wicket has got one low bounce every few balls.. If your names on it. Your walking back to the pavilion..

Pitch is the worst possible advert for test cricket.Signs of desperation to salvage some pride.

posted on 13/12/12

yeah Atherton was saying that on a "normal" flat pitch this score equates to 260/270 - 5, and on that basis, its even stevens......

Did i mention that the indian bowled 32 maiden overs? . Its the pitch, not the bowlers, its gota be the pitch...... 32 maidens, your having a larrrrfffff.......

I think India have made a booboo. The wicket is extremely cracked.. They wanted to have England batting last on a pitch that bounced ankle high in the 4th innings. Talk about fixing a wicket to get a result.. They also made a mess with only picking one seamer..
That could come handy to England batting third. Only batting against one seamer..

posted on 13/12/12

Agree with the seamer bit, the way sharma bowled in the first 2 sessions, if they had zaheer aswell, it would have made things a lot more interesting

True.. Batting against Spinners when theres less bounce is easier. You can basically get 3 feet down the pitch and meet the ball on the full if you want to..
Shame Finn wasnt fit.. His pace and his height.. Massive handful on this pitch... Saying that Bresnan with his inswing could be just has deadly..

Bresnan with an old ball, i can see the indians being hit with some banana swinging toe-crushers

posted on 13/12/12

Said all along that I thought India have dropped the ball by leaving their top order unscathed and dropping zaheer. That looks more likely given the pitch that has been put out.

Although this match is still finely in the balance, whoever wins tomorrow mornings session will be firmly in the drivers seat. Would love to read the assessment of the pitch for the icc. Test cricket should be nowhere near a pitch like that.

1-3 would be a very big setback for India. Never in my lifetime, I have seen India been dominated to such extent at their own backyard and if this does not pursue selectors to make wholesale changes then nothing will.

..............

Had England have played Monty in the first test instead of Bresnan they would probably be in a better position.

A bit of irony today as Compton secured his incrimental contract while playing in what will in all likelyhood be his final international appearance.

I don't think compton has what it takes.. He will always score to slowly for my liking.. You can't defend your way to an 100 at test level. You need to be at least be able to score quickly enough to warrant a place..
