it's a scary time for indian cricket.

the kids in the street are doing baselball pitched instead of bowling. where are the players going to come from ?

i can really see a major decline in indian cricket, at test level, which would obviously be a sad turn for the game.

In fairness fletcher doesn't solely pick the squad or team. In fact i read an article recently whereby a former Indian selector said after the bad 2011 season the selectors unanimously wanted to axe dhoni from the test captaincy.

However under article blah blah blah of the BCCI constitution any squad and team selection has to have the approval of the chairman, who vetoed their decision!

Clearly it's more than the Indian supporters who want rid of their captain. What do you think would stop the chairman from facilitating this change?

1. Dhoni is a good test batsmen and captain who should be retained in all forms?

2. Dhoni is a good wicket keeper batsmen, and there is no other suitable alternative to the captaincy?

3. Dhoni is hard to replace because the chairman doesn't have confidence in the ranji trophy and he occupies two disciplines plus the captaincy?

4. The presence of dhoni, and other senior players, means the BCCI get lucrative sponsorship deals?

For me it's number 4.

in that situation fletcher should resign.

the fact that he didnt would be something of a black mark against him if that was true imo.

look if fletcher doesnt hv any power nd no one listens to him then y doesnt he resign. we have lost like 11 tests in the last 16 tests we hv played, and not a single time has fletcher come out in press conf. he sends people like chawla nd ashwin who barely know the abc of test cricket. some of the statements which our players hv made are shocking.

like today chawla said, we have been batting and bowling very well in the past 2 years? i mean seriously if i was at the press conference i wud hv given him a slap. atleast accept the fact that the team has been in shambles and they are trying to improve.

its so horrific cause most conferences hv been the same. we will be able to bat for 2 days in this pitch. thats wat ojha said for eden gardens. we barely lasted a session, thnks to ashwin.

dhoni, sehwag, gambhir and tendulkar have played 114test innings combined after wc, and they have only scored 2 100s between them in this many innings. and the average is 29. for 114innings, that is seriously worse than bangladesh's and selectors need to take the more serious call. of sacking fletcher, and removing the non-performing players.

the likes of rohit sharma, tiwari and rahane will definitely score 30s compared to what gambhir sehwag and tendulkar have been scoring in the past 2 years.

Obviously fletcher is in it for his retirement fund.

Can't believe the decision to drop zaheer was aplauded as those stats since the world cup are really shocking. Can't think of any other nation that would kep the faith that long.

Think you're missing the point viru, any team chosen has to be approved by the president apparently. Changing coaching staff and puppet selectors will not change the situation.

How much coaching do you think India's senior players would accept or even need?

Waaaaaay too much politics and money in Indian cricket. Dhoni earned £26 million dollars last year

I feel for the fans more than anything.

reckon england will be 150 ahead for 3 tomorrow night.

posted on 14/12/12

Definitely ^^ especially with opposition fans waiting to pounce. But you give as good as you get when it comes to your team/country I suppose.

posted on 14/12/12

thats the thing. they are arrogants and dont want to put in the effort. and when they get dropped because most players like sehwag and gambhir are 1-2 games away from being dropped, people shudnt complain.

Its a brave a courageuos move. im not sure why people are defending zaheer khan. yes he has been india's spearhead since kumble retired, and we all indian fans appreciate that. but over the course of last 2 years he has been a passenger. not just in tests but odis as well.

Im telling u the youngsters like rohit sharma, tiwari will definately score 10 more runs than what sehwag, tendulkar and gambhir have been scoring in the past 2 years.

if this happened in one series I wouldnt have really critisized the team, but from england, to australia, to wi, to nz, to england, our batting has been horrific. our bowling bailed us out against nz and wi, but our batting has been the same in all these matches.

australia lost the ashes 3-1, ricky ponting resigned on the spot. we have lost 11 tests out of 12 that we have played against quality teams, not many changes done at all.

Our bowlers are all over the place Bresnan hasn't been effective enough. But if I am honest this game has got a draw all over it which means England to win the series which they deserve

Are you joking ?

England could have to bat for 4 sessions. On a deteriorating pitch that it most unlikely.

England need to get some wickets - fast.

Kholi & Dhoni are turning this game around......any runs past 330 is as good as 2...
An exciting finish could be on the cards after a Boycott start..

Lions

Has the pitch shown any sign it will deteriorating fast ? Yes I am sure it will but let's see how much they have to bat last which should be to Englands benifit if the pitch does turn

Have been very disappointing in Bresnans bowling

posted on 15/12/12

Im not watching it unfortunately (at work )

Sounds like bresnan's turned into a pie chucker though

If india carry on like this til any time after tea tomorrow, they might not need to bat again.
