Compton needs a big knock here or else he will be replaced by Root in the next series.

I want Root to open anyway, & Bairstow in at 6.

same as that (unless we play prior at 6)

boycott says he doesnt think root's ready to open for another year, but you cant just put someone else in to keep it warm for him. he should be given the chance now.

I agree, but Compton hasn't done anything wrong, I can safely say that Patel shouldn't play another test match.

Umpire gave leg before.

What is the point of fans wanting India to win when the players don't want to. Absolutely ridiculous from Ashwin and the tail. I do not understand why they were not told to hurry up.

Shocking KP I thought he looked all over the place while he was in India have a sniff now, with a pitch that is doing nothing and 3 down is not good, I am sure KP will.Look back at his dismal and know that was a poor one to leave

Now Bell has been very very poor in the series so time to stepp up to the plate

I reckon Dhoni deserves a 1 match ban for his petulance.

Some Indian players are now appealing for everything (which I don't have a problem with) but when the decision doesn't go in their favour, they are clearly attempting to bully the batsman and intimidate the umpire (which I do have a problem with).

The series has been played in good spirits up to now hopefully its forgotten and they can get on with playing the game.

That was out. Oh well. Guess they even themselves out

Viren

DRS until India wake up and come into the 21st century then they can't grumble when they don't get a decision go there way. That was a disgrace trying to bully the empire. There has been some shocking decisions this series and our best batsman in this series has had 2 go against him.

Onto the game if England hold on and don't lose any wickets tonight then I think it's going to be hard for India to win this game

Just seen that Cook decision again that was absolutely terrible. Time for DRS, ALL test teams need to use it now and there should be NO contention over the issue

Is umpiring any worse than it was 20 years ago, 50 years ago, 100 years ago ?

The game's got by alright so far hasnt it ?

point is Lions, we didn't have the benefit of technology that we have now do we? Hotspot, replays, hawkeye...i agree that there were probably some bad decisions in the past from umpires but we have moved on from there? As i say, technology is there and its time every1 used it

Interesting day, again very slow run rate, but as an England fan it will do for me.
As for DRS India should be told "These are the rules of the game, get the hell on with it".

It's my view.

I think umpires' judgment is part and parcel of the game.

As I said on one of the threads the other day, one of the most exciting things for me in cricket is when someone takes a wicket. It just isnt the same if you know it might be reviewed.

To me the positive thing it has done has made umpires give more lbws, but that could be sorted out with a directive to umpires to give them even if they think the ball's only clipping (which prior to drs they didnt).

That's my view anyway.

What can be said about todays play? Well England are on the march. first series win in India for 25 years.. yeeeeha.

Umpires judgement is fine on lbws. When its shown to be an extremely bad decision based on the fact that everyone can see it at home, how can you possibly not use the technology? Its the same for any sport. Not EVERY decision needs to be reviewed - bowled, caught in the deep they are ok, Its the odd decision that is poor and is questionable to say the least. We can't carry on with the situation at present where some particularly poor and dodgy verdicts are quite honestly spoiling the game
