No but you act like we are a midtable club. Yes the last few results have been very disappointing. I still don't see us finishing any lower than 3rd. Whoever we play you never think we'll win. You also have more faith the likes of Spurs and Man U will win games. Like yesterday during the Man U game at half time you were saying Man U would win 1-0. If that was us in that position you would say "we're losing this and there's no chance we're winning"
Also during the Brighton game we were 1-0 up and you were convinced we would mess it up despite the fact we were all over them and they barely created anything.

Honestly, I have absolutely no expectations of him. If he plays even 5 games between now and the end of the season, that'd be a miracle. It's a shame how this signing has worked out because a lot people hinged their hopes on him being this transformative signing but he's not had that impact. He's missed around 50% of Arsenal games since joining the club in 2020. Just not good enough.
So yea, I'm not too hopeful with Partey despite him not going AFCON. We still need a midfielder in Jan.

Thats because he was just bumbling around and playing everyone onside. Arteta wanted him to go on the pitch and lay down so the ref stops the game. Partey is an idiot.
Happy new year all. 2023 started off very well for us in January but ended badly. Here's hoping for a better 2024.

I think we are putting all our balls in the striker department. We have enough midfielders, and it's good of Partey to have pulled out. Fergie did this all the time, but it needs the player to cooperate.
Ghana boss Chris Hughton on being unable to call up Thomas Partey for AFCON:
🗣️ “Thomas Partey is one of our most important players. Without his injury, he certainly would be in the squad, we know the quality of player that he is. This is a player that suffered a substantial injury.”
I’ve spent a lot of this period of time with Thomas and also engaged the medical staff at Arsenal. They will treat this injury with caution, and so will the player. This is a big injury for him, the biggest injury he’s had.”
The most important thing for me as head coach is to give him the support he needs during this period of time. From all the information we’ve been given, the timelines of his recovery and the caution that will be taken, [his recovery] will not meet our timelines for the AFCON.”

I read between the line that he had a setback and he wont be fit for the time the AFCON is played anyway which means he wont probably not back till mid Feb.

How is that? I believe our main target is still Zubimendi and that will require a buy out in the summer. Buy-out requires the whole payment up front, and we will end up paying more for him (£50m) than we have Rice (£20m amortised). Fulham will want £50m for Palinhia (29) and I don't think he fits our age profile for that sort of money.
Boniface, Sesko lots of strikers we can get now if we spend £50m+. Brentford need quite a few players if they want to fix their collapse. Goalkeeper should be their highest priority, and they don't have money to spend. So I think there is motivation for them to sell Toney now.
I think Osimhen is out of range now or in the summer! Unless KSE want to make a splash, in which case he will cost the same now or in the summer!
I haven't even mentioned Vlahovic who won't even cost £40m because of his dodgy injury record!

Jesus came on in 67th minute...
J99,
Boniface is spearheading an attack at Leverkusen that is currently 4 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and may win their 1st ever league title, there is absolutely no chance they are letting him go for £50m this January. I'd go far as saying they'd reject most fees unless it's in the region of £100m and that's not going to happen. Sesko looks a talent, but he's only just joined Leipzig 6 months ago. He also only has 3 league goals. Again, I just don't see this as feasible.
Getting a high-quality striker is harder because there aren't many out there and the ones that are are already at financially stable clubs who are under no pressure to sell or aren't willing to sell midseason. So they come at a higher premium.
There are a lot more midfielders out there who fit the profile for what we're looking for or who we can develop at the price point that is far less than a top striker.
Samir, I think people sometimes overestimate fees and attraction of money to clubs. Not every club can hold out for fees in the summer. It just doesn't happen. Players can get injured or lose form, and there goes the big payday the club was expecting.
I think it's pointless for me to name players because it's just as easy, as you have done, to say, 'they don't need to sell'. Suffice to say, money works wonders, but it requires will from our side.
Arsenal are playing their cards close to their chest, probably to avoid another Mudryk fiasco. Lex, Dj, you I think were saying Arsenal are going to buy no one after Chelsea bought Mudryk. But we did get Trossard. We'll see what happens. I don't think Edu/Arteta are blind to what's happening. The 'project' requires us to stay in the top 4.
I never once said Arsenal were buying no-one
