* attacked a fan and is still adored by united fans, he attacked a fan, Luis might kick out at opponents on the pitch but he would never attack a fan in the ground, more hypocrisy

Oh, it's just that you said his name after commenting on Suarez's teeth. I'm not sure how saying Suarez is a for kicking his opponents, and being criticised for it, is hypocritical when compared to Cantona's who did it once, and was subsequently banned for it. No one defends what Cantona did, and I really think you should look up the meaning of the word hypocrisy...

Redvalk - I believe i was using the rhetoric of the british media to satirise it.....

I know full well what it means jay don't try to patronise me. I'm simply pointing out how a player has done something far far worse then anything Luis has done yet is still adored

The only example Giggs sets is that you can be as big a away from your job but still be praised, as opposed to Suarez who seems to be a decent guy off the field (where it matters) but gets abuse for his untishness on field.

You used the word incorrectly. Cantona did one thing throughout his entire United career and was rightly punished for it. You didn't see United training with Cantona tshirts on, did you. On the other hand, you are defending Suarez, and criticising Cantona, for what you deem to be similar acts (somehow) does that not smack of hypocrisy to you?

That is the difference, Cantona was condemned for what he did (regardless of whether the guy deserved it or not) whereas Suarez is defending.

If anyone actually bothered to look what he does away from the pitch, which is 99% of his time, you'll see he is a good person and a family man. Something Giggs can only dream of.

Since when did this become about off field antics?

Maybe some of us aren't Women who read heat and hello magazine?

Maybe to some of us a model professional is someone who is a model professional in their profession... so say a footballer would be a model professional on the football pitch...

To most of us a model professional is someone who does their job on the pitch, as long as they don't hurt anyone then who really cares what footballers do in their spare time outside of gossiping Women?

Perhaps it is better to encourage children to be s on a football pitch (a controlled environment) and get it out of their system, rather than being an awful human being off it?

Right, can I just stop everyone right there. Why the feck are you turning this in to a Suarez vs United player debate about on/off the field. Giggs is a model professional, personal life aside (which is frankly not our business). I have no doubts that the off the field Suarez is a nice guy, but it really doesn't matter.

Dot, those 2 things have absolutely no relevance on each other, either you compare their personal lives, or their professional lives, you really can't compare Ryan Giggs' personal life to Suarez's on the field antics. Jesus Christ some of you guys are dense today...

I simply pointed out how we are given grief fir what Luis did yet there are 100's of instances where players have done far worse yet are still adored by their clubs fans.

Cause let's face it this is what all thus is all about criticizing Liverpool using Luis as the stick to beat us with hypocritical

Dense is an ironic term. It implies high concentration of matter which is surely more indicative of a large brain?

So do you think maybe Jimmy Saville might meet that disclaimer I put in there of hurting people?

Because I think he does, so my point stands.

As long as someone doesn't hurt people off the pitch why should we care, are we like Women with their gossiping about which celebrities are having affairs and getting married?

No, we watch the football, so we care what goes on on the football pitch, as long as they aren't seriously hurting anyone off it then it shouldn't be a concern to any serious football fan.

No, it isn't Knee. We are not criticising Liverpool at all. We are doing it to one of your players. You are given grief because Suarez doesn't just have the one incident to his name, does he. When Cantona did his kung fu impression, he wasn't supported by the club, or it's fans. Everyone knew that he was in the wrong, and he was punished accordingly.

Liverpool's almost blind support of Suarez during the whole racism debacle (which I really don't want to get in to) is why your fans generally get called hypocritical.

Christ, I was not expecting this many comments. I think reasoned debate seemed to go out the window pretty fast. I thought it was quite a balanced article, pointing out the good and bad of Suarez, but it seems to have been leapt on by a number of Liverpool fans who see no wrong in Saint Suarez.

Tottenham fans admit it when Bale dives or one of our players does something silly, Liverpool fans seems to be very blinkered when it comes to Suarez or any of their players.
