I got you were only doing it for "fun", some of the questions are odd. They have things like "usual" and "favourite" in them, not exactly facts.

There is one asking where the traditions of Christmas originated and even experts can't agree on that one.

Was that a mock test you did on some unofficial website?

The one I did was an official one from a previous year. It was full of questions on trade unions, government, laws and general knowledge of the UK. Some of the questions you wouldn't be able to answer without reading the book first, which I think is the whole point of it.

GTWI4T..............................Illegal benefits and benefit fraud account for 2.7% of the total benefit hand outs. The tories and the Mail love to push that the people making up that 2.7% are the sole reason the country is where it is. Pathetic.
________________________________________

And how much in real money is that 2.7%????

Nearly £4.2billion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not an insignificant amount of money is it & why should people be allowed to get away with stealing this amount EVERY YEAR!!!!!

Did you know that in 2009/2010 Welfare Payments exceeded revenue brought in from income taxes???

No, did not think you did!! It is easy to try & minimise impact by quoting a % but when it is converted into real monetary figures it looks different!!!

I believe it was a previous year's test, sort of like a mock exam. The real thing, but not exactly the same as the current one.

Should be two questions only.

1. Do you speak English or are currently learning?
2. Do you intend to abide by the laws of the United Kingdom?

The rest is nonsense.

I bet Northern Ireland has the most benefit fraudsters in the UK. There has been a massive push this year and it has improved.

I'm not so sure Dramatic, I think some basic knowledge of the country is pretty essential.

But there is basic knowledge such as knowing at least the immediate royal family, and knowing the ins and outs of everything.

Genius - Right Wing Tory Propoganda on The Welfare State Bill here are the facts :-

Welfare Budget.

47% - Pensions

27% - Subsidies paid to Low & Middle Income Earners to obtain a living wage.

3% - Benefit Fraud

1 % - Scroungers & Scivers

22% Miscellaneous.

Cameron & Osborne have disgusted me by using the evil actions of Mick Philpott as some sort of moral justification for their purge on the Benefits System.

People like Mick Philpott account for 70P for every £100-00 that is spent on Welfare.

Osborne is Chicken George as he was due to appear with Dame Tanni Grey - Thompson on the Tom Bradby Show to discuss the cutting of benefits to the disabled in our Society - Osborne got Dame Tanni Grey - Thompson taken off the programme.

The Tories are The Nasty Party always have an always will be I am afraid !!

The whole point was to cut down immigration and especially immigration of people with no skills or knowledge of the language and country which in the long run, ends up costing the country money.

My wife passed an English test with the highest mark you can get. She also graduated from a university in her country which uses English as the teaching language, in accounting and finance and thus had already achieved qualifications showing her English standard but still needed to do the test.

If you're not an EU member, it's a long haul and difficult process.

UK, not England.

Regardless, how does that relate when no doubt most of the British people in the UK would fail the test if they took it tomorrow?

I think the whole point is to limit immigration a bit more.

People really have to stop reading newspapers and actually learn things themselves forming their own opinions.

Sandy.............................I was at WHL on the day of Winston Churchill`s funeral in 1964, and I think it was marked with a minute`s silence. But then he defeated the tyranny of Nazism, Thatcher only defeated hard working people of our industries.

Yes, the important bits. But surely you shouldn't need to know what Shakepeare's sister's dog was called. Which is about the level of some of the questions.

Yeah but some are unofficial and thus random people have made them, putting ads on their site in order to make money from it, where targetted ads such as, 'get a green card' often entice people in.

Much like if you wanted to live and stay in Australia you have to take a test which you can answer questions which are relative to Australia, politics, history

Just not in depth

Any idiot understands what's right and wrong, it shouldn't be tought to them

Numbers..........................Osborne & Cameron (neither of whom I particularly like) used the Philpott scenario but got the message wrong. Yes Philpott milked the system & what Osborne & Cameron were trying to do was show that by trying to regain custody of his other children because it would mean £2000 a month more, he instigated his evil plan.
If the right processes and a cap on child benefit after a certain number of children was in place, then this tragedy might not have happened.

Yeah that's the one I done and got 58% after doing it just now for the second time.

You have failed the practice citizenship test.

Questions answered correctly: 14 out of 24 (58%)

Time taken: 02 minutes 56 seconds

Numbers.............................It still amounts to over £4billion a year being stolen on benefits. And again my point that we now pay out as much, if not more, on benefits as we collect in income taxes!! That is a frightening statistic.
