The biggest worry at the moment is Coutinho for me. Been very poor since he returned from injury, virtually anonymous tonight.

I may be wrong, but hasn't he taken a while to get going when he's missed games in the past???

Coutinho has been poor but Mane gives him a good option. Now we've got Mane, Lallana and Firmino back I think Coutinho will improve.
On another note Can needs to be out of the team. Watched him closely again tonight- he doesn't have a footballers brain.

Yeah need to drop Can for Hull, move Lallana back into midfield and hopefully we will be more fluent.

Wouldn't be surprised if we still struggle with the return of Mane. Definitely harder for the other attacking players to perform without him but they are still playing poorly regardless.

Mamadou Sakho has joined Palace on loan for the rest of the season. #LFC bank £2m loan fee and Palace also pay his full wages.

Sakho gone on loan to Palace.

£2m loan fee and full wages paid by them.

Nice little earner for 3 months for us.

I don't think we struggled tonight at all.

I thought we played well against the best team in the country.

That's a result.

Glad we had our main players back. We need to play Firmino in the number 9 position and Lallana deeper, he is much better there than Can.

"and it may just mean more minutes for Woodburn every now and then"

That's it. Sturridge needs to leave.

Good results in the other games for us last night with Arsenal losing and Spurs being held.

A case of defensive mistakes costing us again last night, with Lovren getting sucked out of position and leaving Matip exposed.

And what was Mignolet doing for the free kick!

We can just chalk it down as a bizarre goal to concede, and give credit to Chelsea for a well worked routine! I think players just take it for granted that they get as much time as they want to get organised.

It was clear that Mig wasn't ready, so maybe the ref has a responsibility to make sure they are before blowing his whistle? I genuinely don't know????

I dont even think it was a routine just pure instinctive genius from Luiz.

When the pen was given luiz was on the Chelsea 18 yard line, he then walked over to the touch line to talk to conte and then to the ball. 4 seconds after the whistle was blown he was still faffing around in the middle of the goal not looking at the free kick.

He may not have got anywhere near the ball but the simple fact that he didn't have a clue what was going on contributed to the goal. Good save from the pen thou but we need better.

Pen? Free kick!!!!!!!!!

posted on 1/2/17

Was a hell of a free kick though. Looked like he hit it with his toe.
Definitely wasn't a free kick though. Hazard lost control then played for it.

Was going to go in regardless of Mig losing the plot. Went just over the wall which did not jump and into the corner/post which Mig was not covering.

Wijnaldum was very good last night, aside from his goal.

Has really played well in the big games.

I'm hoping for more goals from him in the remaining games. He said Klopp told him at half time to get in the box more.

He needs to be doing that every game as his heading and finishing is generally good.

Teams dont target him either...need to use that to our advantage.

Players miss chances. It happens.

His all round game was good, and no surprise our best team performance for a while came with him in the number 9 position.

I suspect he will be 9 for most of the remaining 15 games.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He wasn't particularly good, and considering he's our main striker, he's pretty much cost us the win.

I'm not a Firmino hater, I'd love him to be banging them in. But I don't get how he gets such an easy time, when others get so much stick.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Totally!

If sturridge played exactly like Firmino did last night everyone would be saying that he's lost it and should leave asap

Firmino:
bust a gut,
can control a ball,
can use both right and left foot,
doesn't jog when there is a through ball
is able to link play with other

Sturridge:
none of the above applies

posted on 1/2/17

Firmino had an off game but he gives 100%

Sturridge has many off games where he gives about 30%

Have you ever seen Sturridge tackle a player??

Not this season. He backs out of every challenge.

I like him as a goalscorer but I don't want tarts in my team.
