TWW, the floor is yours. Please quote where and when I have advocated injury to a football player, and I will make a full apology.

Heading back to the original post, yes you have bought players, and paid way over the top for Shaw, Herrera and Di Maria, but with the exception of Shaw, whos overweight, youve not actually got any better.
The team, even when you do line up with Di maria (where he fits, along with RVP, Rooney, Mata, Herrera and Januzaj remains to be seen) is not a team you look at and think "thats a good team".

You do think however "some good attacking talent, but id back every team in the league to score against them" and once you have that against you, from what ive seen, you dont look capable of scoring.

I bet almost all of the people posting about Markovic have never even seen him play before.

Yeah, and that includes all you lot bigging up yet another nobody to world class in one transfer
===
The problem with TCP and this whitewall imitation of him is that they will make stuff up just to have a pop. Like this right here.

If I had a choice between myself or Bebe on the wing, I would choose me. Markovic is still symptomatic of Liverpool's business this window though.

How can you say our transfers are a problem when a) you haven't seen most of them play b) we have nowhere near played enough games to make a judgment, and even the game we have played we have won. At least people waited until Spurs has a couple of humiliating defeats last year before saying their transfers were sheit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
On that count no Liverpool supporter should make comments about the players United have and will bring in until they have played a sufficient amount of games.

Also no Liverpool supporters should comment on the fees paid until it's blatantly obvious that the player or players after so many games are not worth the fee paid.

7 days of transfer window left, and Man u paying over the odds. Sounds a bit familiar to last season with fellaini's move. Seems to me a bit of a panic buy.

I was wondering if anybody knows how much utd have spent on their squad since Fergie left?

posted on 25/8/14

i thik the op is being very naive or thick or both. no one said top players will nit go to united without cl, instead most people aaid you will gave to pay crazy fees and salaries which you have done. i mean 60 odd million for di marie that is only around 20 mill less real paid for ronaldo

and how much are you paying the salad dodger luke shaw per week? even chelsea would notpay that.

i expect united with their far superior squad no euroean football and world class manager to easily finish top 2

Personally I think United have other areas wich needed addressing. Not a bad player but you could have done with another centre back and a cm if not 2

IF United qualify for the CL next year (which I'm sure they will), what pot do they go in?

From 2007-2011, you must have had the best co-efficiency in Europe, but isn't it based on the past 5 years only?

In which case, how will that affect your qualification process?

This is the current year.

As it stands United are 6th and will not add to that score.
Liverpool are 46th and will add points.

Either way I think it is fair to say that United will still be much better ranked than Liverpool for 2 years even with no cl.

United are still one of the biggest clubs in europe, however they find themselves without CL football for the first time in nearly 2 decades.

So far in this window they have signed Shaw, Herrera and Rojo and whoever that other young fella is. These signings while good for united are not standout players.

Di Maria is an elite player, but I think united fans will agree that they are over paying for him. Nothing wrong with over paying if you can afford it and united have plenty of cash to spend.

But you also need to look at the players like Kroos, Hummels that united were linked to who didn't sign for them despite, what seems like genuine interest. This would lean towards no CL football as a factor, however having said that signing Di Maria shows they still have pulling power coupled with the extra cash they may have to spend to land such a quality player.

But the one elite player they will sign is being over paid for, this must be taken into consideration as no other elite players have yet to sign for the club despite interest, it suggests that while united can and will be able to sign elite players it will be more difficult and cost more to do so.

If united miss out on top 4 again this issue could become even bigger, 1 season out for a club like united won't do much damage bar maybe having to offer a bit more in terms of transfer fee and especially wages, 2 or more years and it gets allot harder to do, we've seen this first hand at LFC.

So really it's a combination of both still being a big draw for some players and having the money to pay the extra required to secure them. City did the same without CL football throwing huge sums of money especially in wages to sign them, united of course are not in the same boat as city as they have massive European pedigree but the longer they stay out of the CL the worse this becomes.

As for us, we still struggle to sign the very best, however we have managed to strengthen our squad considerably with players the manager targeted, these palyers may not be elite at the moment but they are players the manager wanted in most cases. Also despite the baggage Balotelli is a big name player, IMO he still has to prove he is an elite striker but in terms of box office and upping the interest in LFC he fits the bill, right now it's for mostly the wrong reasons but we have to hope he can turn it around Hope being the pivotal word.

Maybe it's just me but I love Liverpool, I don't define my support through hated or dislike of another club which many on here seem to do, ask any Red and they will tell you that this has been an excellent window for us on paper, we have to see how the new lads bed in etc. but every red I know is happier with this window then they have been for years. There is a very good vibe about the club at the moment, we've managed, in signing Balotelli to get that big name striker we badly needed since Luis left, it's given the club a lift.

We're happy, united fans are getting happier despite the poor start.
