Totally agree, Winston. The "if there's contact, he's entitled to go down" mantra is ruining football.
It amazes me that people can claim it's a penalty.
Genuinely amazed. Utter delusion.
He was pulled back though, technically it is a penalty. Even though the way he jumped forward when he was being slightly tugged back makes no sense whatsoever and it was a pathetic dive
It was a Spanish penalty. Move on
"He was pulled back though, technically it is a penalty."
No, that's not correct.
A foul is not defined by contact.
Didn't say anything about contact. You can't pull somebody back, it's a foul anywhere else on the pitch. Just because he dived doesn't mean it wasn't a pen.
Moreno got a yellow for pulling townsend back so it seems it is a foul
Pulling someone back is nothing to do with football.
It's a foul, and a penalty.
Allen dived to convince the ref, as we all know you don't get fouls if you don't go down in the vast majority of circumstances.
'Bats' - Giroud is football's version of the ebola virus (U18355)
By definition you're talking about contact.
It is possible to pull, push etc. and for it not to be a foul.
The foul is defined by the level of contact and the effect.
Otherwise, 'technically' you could place your hand on someone, ever so slightly make a pushing motion, and it would be a foul.
I didn't say that the reason it's not a pen is because he dived.

Allen dived to cheat the ref into believing that the contact was sufficient to make him go to ground.
The line that you don't get fouls if you don't go down is such flawed nonsense.
If the pull is not enough to break your stride or effect the play, it's not a foul.
He wasn't pulled , he was touched and it was a dive. Skirtle gets away with 10 times worse every game and the pull on Adebayor later in the game was even more clear cut. Unfortunately Adebayor did not feel the need to cheat to even the score.
Liverpool deserved their win though no doubt and will be there or thereabouts when the gongs are dished out at the end of the season. Having said that we are probably the easiest team to play against as physically we offer little and the better technically teams tend to give us the runaround and.
Liverpool will find harder against teams with character and who just don't have 2 defensive midfielders to do their tackling for them.
Stupid thing for young Dier to do anyway, asking for trouble
Moreno sidnt deserve a yellow then
Ridiculous to try and box two incidents into the same thing.
Each incident is unique, and requires independent analysis. I haven't seen the Moreno yellow, so can't comment.

Why are you making things up. If you pull someone back it is a foul. What is it that you don't agree with? There was intent to pull him and he did pull him. Whether it was enough to make Allen go down or not is irrelevant. Obviously Allen dived but it was still a pen.

Well he tried pulling back townsend and got a yellow for it..

I'm not making anything up.
What you are effectively saying is that once Dier puts his hand out and touches him, it's a foul.
Which is nonsense.
John Henrys Explosive Offense - #STOPISIS (U18764)
Okay, will have a watch later.
He didn't put his hand out and touch him. He put his hand out, grabbed him and pulled him back.
Personally I wouldn't have given it but I can understand why it was given.
Dier intentionally attempted to illegally stop Allen from getting away although not too successfully.
Remember there doesn't have to be contact to be a foul. If a play goes flying in with a two footed challenge studs up and the attacking player jumps out of the way to avoid injury but his run is impeded because he's moving out the way it should still be a red card and a foul despite no contact actually made.
That said I did feel a little embarrassed as a Liverpool fan to see him go down like that.
'Bats' - Giroud is football's version of the ebola virus (U18355)
No he didn't.
Watch it again. There's no grab.
His hand grazes across Allen.
I think you need to watch the incident again, and you also need to get your head around the fact that contact does not equate to a foul.
Therefore, by definition, it's the degree of contact that constitutes whether it's a foul or not.
Jordan Henderson's Backheel (Formally Kelly Is God) (U6983)
Let's be honest, it was given because Allen conned the referee.
You're right about not needing contact, but that can't possibly apply in this case - there was nothing dangerous, his run was not impacted etc.
