We have no locus to go to any of those bodies while we're still part of the UK. We only have the right to go to them when we've voted for independence.
Do you know who could have asked on our behalf? The UK government. And guess what. They didn't.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-20164826
Quinn, you'll never get those things sorted out before a vote because the UK government won't allow it.
No approaches were made by the Yes lot to nato or EU.
Stuff like this takes years / decades anyway.
Salmond decided the date.
Salmond and no-one else.
Yes campaign should stay together after the No vote.
Approach these organisations with lawyers and a serious intent to negotiate.
And THEN come to the Scottish people.
Erse to elbow nonsense.
I've talked to folk who say if it doesn't happen this year it never will.
Utter piiish.
Quinn, nobody from the Yes camp is allowed to approach these people.
They have no authority to do so. The EU, NATO, the BoE will NOT deal with anyone from the Yes camp and will reject any attempts to negotiate as they have no mandate to do so.
Your asking for something that is not possible, and the UK government knows that and is using that to keep people like yourself, who wants everything in place before the vote, on their side. It would be against their interests to allow this to happen.
I might vote Yes then.
The Grimm's Fairytale White Paper ?
Nae chance.
It's a big fat NO from me.
That's the point mate
You MIGHT vote Yes if everything is in place.
Westminster don't want you to vote Yes.
They are the only ones who can facilitate any form of negotiation with these bodies.
Why would they then do that when they can keep you as a No by doing nothing??
https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=GQ2q5E1Gn9s
In my nick, it is all I have to add sadly
I do not have enough information to make such a historic decision.
This is deliberate and the Yes campaign is responsible for this.
If they get me the information I might vote Yes.
They have not sought the information cos they don't like what the answer will be.
They have asked us to go for emotion.
This I will not do and neither will the majority.
Ivan
That said, there is nowt you have said I would disagree with
It is all down to the individual and their conscience on the day, just don't leave yourself with any regrets the day after
Quinn!!! FFS man!!!!
How is it the Yes campaign that's responsible!?!?!
I've shown you very clear evidence that it is the BETTER TOGETHER campaign and the UK GOVERNMENT who are refusing to allow the likes of the EU to get involved and give advice. It is them, not the Yes campaign who are refusing to get you the answers that you're asking for!
They are not allowed to ask the bodies directly. Only the UK are and they made it a condition that they would not "pre-negotiating the terms of separation from the UK ahead of the referendum". If they had agreed to pre-negotiate then you'd have all the answers in front of you.
It's not the Yes campaign that's at fault here.
Piff absolutely mate, and I have complete respect for those who want to vote No. It won't stop me trying to change their mind though.
Piffle.
They should have done their homework.
Not just about Europe - Lender of Last Resort, nato etc.
Mad scramble to meet the Bannockburn year.
Salmond was cringeworthy swerving the LOLR question.
Amateurish.
We'll go for it again I'm sure.
But with information this time.
They can send delegates and lawyers to the EU Parliament.
They would look at precedent and engage in talks about talks.
They have not done this because they know what the responses will be.
Scotland will not be allowed to queue jump.
Same with BOE as LOLR.
They know the answers and have not asked.
Quinn, we wont' go for it again for three very good reasons.
1. We need to have a party who wishes to see a referendum in power with a majority of power in Holyrood. That is extraordinarily hard to attain in a parliament especially one that uses Proportional Representation. Only an SNP majority can give us another chance.
2. Westminster need to agree to a referendum. I see no reason why Westminster will feel inclined to agree to another referendum for at least another generation.
3. As I've mentioned repeatedly over the last hour, THE YES CAMPAIGN HAVE NO LOCUS TO OPEN DICUSSIONS WITH THESE BODIES SO THEREFORE CAN'T HAVE EVERYTHING SET OUT FOR YOU TO THE DEGREE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE!!!!! Only with Westminsters agreement can they have that information, and they will NEVER agree to it!!!
Let it sink in you auld búgger.
The EU have said they would be happy to give their advice on Scotland's prospects of admission to the EU as far back as 2012 if and when the UK government asked for their advice.
The UK government refused to ask.
It wasn't the Yes campaign. It wasn't the SNP. It was the UK government.
The EU would not respond to the SNP or anyone apart from the UK government.
Elaine C is on in the final debate....
These YES folk don't really want to win it appears
Ivan.
The real work in politics as you know is done in the bars, restaurants and beds.
Salmond wrote a couple of lofty letters in 2012.
The response was - see that queue ? Join it.
Then it's the big bad UK that pure bullying us.
