Firstly if any of you have watched any of our last three games you will have seen Sterlings poor form quite clearly. His first touch has been off and that sharpness where he sprints past opposing defenders has been very badly missing. Usually his intelligence on the ball and the way he keeps the ball is a key part of his game but in recent weeks he keeps getting dispossessed. Now I'm no doctor but it seems like he's clearly got fatigue in his muscles as he seems heavy on his feet and because of his style of play I would say he's more susceptible to tiredness and fatigue based muscle injuries.

Some of the comments like "ban him - he must be lying about being tired" and "he's 19 and should be fit enough to play" are hilarious and also quite stupid. One it goes to show the lads growing importance that at 19 he's probably England's brightest attacking spark (he did win the free kick which led to England's goal tonight) and is also our most important forward player at club level. Secondly Roy is a bigger cretin for not protecting him and saying what he did in public but we already know about him. These lads are professional athletes and rather than fake an injury which I'm sure many players have probably done in the past I'm glad he came out and said he wasn't feeling fully up to it. Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.

So why has Brenda not dropped him, if he is in such poor form?

You may have noticed that we have been without our first choice striker for a bit...so needs must!!!

He's just looking out for the club that pays his wages. Like most England players have done in the past bar a few. That's all. Liverpool fans will say he's genuinely tired. Rival fans will say he's not. Makes it difficult to support England when this kind of stuff goes on combined with how sht England actually are.

You have lollana,2 Italian international forwards,Lambert £20 million markovich to choose from also,or is an obvious out of form Sterling > than all those above

Only one of them plays in the same position as Sterling...

we have reverted to one up top and had to play attacking midfielders...of which he is the best but is out of form. lallana only hit fitness and form in the last week before the break (by his own admission), Markovic is young and struggling to adapt. So yeah recently he has been the better option.

As I said before i would rest him at weekend and have lallana in at number 10 and sturridge and balotelli up top.

Really couldn't care less. He's not obliged to play. And it sort of irks me how people that if someone is in the public eye, they get to choose what their priorities should be.

Hodgson said Sterling, 19, complained about fatigue on the eve of the game.
"He said, 'I'm feeling tired, I'd rather sit this one out'," Hodgson told BBC Radio 5 live after the 1-0 win.

The 67-year-old added: "It's unfair if all the expectations to give the player a little bit of a break fall on me."

MUDD, Elvis

I don't know how people are saying that the quotes are "inconclusive" still

The quote was on BBC 5 Live, and has been written in an article on the BBC website !

Danny Mills: "As far as Raheem Sterling, I'd want to play every international game I could at this stage. I don't really believe a player his age will have gone to the manager and told him he's tired. Has there been influence from elsewhere? The club manager, for example? Who knows."

Phil McNumpty; "Raheem Sterling's absence after England manager Roy Hodgson revealed Liverpool's teenager had told him he was feeling tired generated a lot of heat in freezing Tallinn on Sunday.
"How can a 19-year-old be tired in the early weeks of October? How can he be jaded after only playing 45 minutes of the 5-0 win against San Marino? Is this the spectre of club v country rearing its head again?"
