As for new players this summer we need a few decent ones. Only DDG, smalling, Shaw and Martial should be guaranteed places in the side. That doesn't mean we need 7 new starters. But lots of work still needs to be done

I have Robb. What did he do? He's that much of a threat his manager just took him off.

4 goals and 3 goals were his return in last two seasons. That's not screaming game changing attacking midfielder to me.

He's not a game changing attacking mid though. He's more like a Carrick who keeps the game ticking over

Even with that he provided the assist for Portugal's goal against Iceland and today his smart play helped make the penalty

Nobody should be guaranteed places. But I agree the 4 you have mentioned are almost.
But I think Darmian and Morgan will have much better seasons this year. Lingaard will hold down his place, Rashford will get a lot of games, Blind will play more often than not. CBJ and Mensah I hope will get some time. Rooney will play more often than not, Who knows even Jones may come good.
I would like to see 2 or 3 players signed. A striker like Lacazette, a defensive midfielder like Dier and a winger like Mahrez. But mainly a striker.

Kante over Carvalho. Schneiderlin still too. Not writing him off yet.

As for Gomes? He looks average to me. We shouldn't be spending 30m on another so so player. He's not bad but he's far from great.

This Portugal side would be better off without Ronaldo IMO. Everything has to go through him and he seems the type to bring about bad feeling when he kicks off if the ball isn't passed to him
