I think Liverpool could be dark horses for the top four next season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Can't see it personally.

They've made average signings barring Mane, their keeper is woeful, their defence is laughable, their main striker will spend at least 50% of the season in hospital. Midfield isn't great either. Be lucky to get top 6.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But apparently Klopp is a genius who will polish all those turds and make a great team out of them

It's like summer 2011 again, anyone going to do a Bats and bookmark them ready for Spring

Too early to predict for me when 3 of the biggest sides have new managers.

I expect a top 4 finish but hope we can challenge for the title too.

Hard to know how quickly Pep and Conte will adapt to the PL, could find it relatively easy. It's not as if the PL is as physically tough or as fast as it used to be compared to other leagues.

Arsenal are the interesting side for me. Every season they've made top 4 but you sense the fans can see things aren't improving. If they don't buy anyone else this summer I think there's a very real chance of them missing out of the top 4. I also think Liverpool with Klopp having had a preseason may improve quite a lot.

Man United, Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool.

Dunce of the day. Liverpool?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yep. Klopp will get them there imo and players like Coutinho and Sturridge when they are fit and on form could get in any team.

Wenger's going to fail in this even more brutal financial climate. Would have always backed Arsenal normally, but too many sides are going to spend this summer while Arsene sits on his hands.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

That's the key word, when fit and on form.

Sturridge is barely fit and Coutinho has one good game in 5.

Mignolet, he's played for you for quite a while. Guaranteed to make at least 3 clangers a game. Belgian. You might know him.

-=------------------------------------------------

Or they could apart quick like Pellegrini did.

You would think Jose's PL experience will give him the upper hand on those two initially and it might turn out like that, but worth mentioning Pel and Brendan finished above him in his first season back here.

Either way it's going to be a pretty intreging season, potential of a 5 horse race, maybe even 6 if Liverpool start taking the market more seriously.

It's really not, signed an experienced keeper for free.

Liverpool could easily be dark horses for a CL spot, not sure about a title challenge yet though.

Individually ,minor Sturridge,Coutinho and possibly Firmino, they dont have a huge amount of match winners but as a collective, like Leicester last season, they could make big strides.

Klopp is very good at making teams being cohesive and sticking to that gameplan and style of play and you have to say the signings he's made, though not totally out of this world, you cant deny that they dont fit in with his philosophy.

Was he the same one that played for Arsenal in the 90s?

I think he played against Chelsea in the league cup in 1998 and was one of the worst keepers I've ever seen face us, makes Turnbull look like Buffon.

Returning managers

TBF, Jose's aim in season 1 for Chelsea was to just get things in order which he did. If he can do a similar thing with us then I'll be very happy.

Even though there are some very good players and managers in the league now I don't see it being a 5 horse race, it rarely if ever happens anywhere and a rise in quality doesn't mean it's more likely. I would imagine some sides will underperform for whatever reason and maybe at most 3 sides going for a genuine title challenge going into the last 3-4 months.

Highly debatable that City have the strongest squad in the league. A lot of ageing players there (Toure, Silva, Zab, Sagna, Kolarov etc.) severe doubts over the fitness of their only top defender. A lot of bang average squad players there also. (Fernando, Mangala, Bony, Navas) A long term injury to Aguero or De Bruyne and they may struggle. Gundogan could be a great signing but it remains to be seen if he can shake off his injury troubles.

Fair enough point.

I'm looking at Klopp though and seeing a manager who's set up fundamentally is about being able to outrun the opposition. Press them hard, play high, never let the other team settle on the ball.

If Sturridge was a lost cause I I have to admit to thinking he is, Klopp would have cashed in and brought in a replacement. Him not doing makes me think he's seen enough in training to believe in Sturridge, and that my opinion of him might not be accurate.

Coutinho's inconsistant, but would be most teams best player on that 1 out of 5 game. And in a team who are trying to get the ball high up the pitch, it's perfect for him to shine more often than not.

They're my pick for 4th.

City. Best manager in the world bar none and has been for the last 10 years . Can't think of anyone that matches him. He'll have an impact.

Chelsea. Conte. Nuff said.

Arsě- Usual top 3 place. Par for the course.

Utd. Seeing as their pre season tour has been a bit of a shambles, with matches being cancelled left right and centre, dressing room egos out of control and Mourinho conducting press conferences out on the street, I think they'll struggle to challenge for the title but a surefire bet for that last cl place. An eventual 150m pogba purchase with the old Trafford stadium going the other way, will push them up one place I reckon

All about opinions innit.

He made 6 appearances for Germany between U16-U21 level. Don't think he will strike much fear somehow.

Chelsea, United, City, Arsenal and West Ham off the top of my head have number 2s better than anything you have.

I think Liverpool might struggle slightly to improve until they've made a total of at least 11 new signings.
