you have point there money bag clubs driving the price up,city manu Chelsea its desperate but it seems works for them
why do people care so much about the money in the game? whether your club spends well or badly i understand, but why does anyone care about general levels of wealth?
did anyone here refuse to see the last mission impossible film because tom cruise makes $25m a movie? did you turn off the mayweather/pacquaio fight in disgust at the money being made by the fighters? have you all burned your michael jackson/prince/madonna CDs because they made hundreds of millions of dollars from their careers?

it has certainly worked in the past. if you wanted an example of a club where it hasn't worked, how about the club that has spent £900m over the past 25 years - more than any other club that has failed to win the PL - for zero titles.
The market was no doubt increased a few years ago, but apart from City a few year ago everyone is meeting the FFP rules and just spending what they earn.
Greedy players and more relevant agents, will take clubs for all their worth, the bigger the PL deals the more they will ask for.

if we're talking about wages then according to the most recent version of this pool have the 3rd highest wage bill in the PL, and a wages:turnover ratio that is higher than the other big clubs (69%, vs eg United at 45%). But yeah, it's the other 3 big clubs mentioned who are "desperate":
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/jun/01/premier-league-finances-club-by-club
wow almost 70% of the turnover, heading towards dangerous grounds

Well we've done better than any other club that has won the league so it's all relative. Also worth noting that at no point have we had a more expensive squad than Utd in the league.
Just facts and stuff though so carry on.

yes, you've done better than anyone bar united, chelsea, city, arsenal, blackburn, and leicester. that must be worth a trophy surely.
and given that united's spending only overtook yours 2 seasons ago that other point may or may not be true, but, and call me overly demanding, you saying it does not make it a "fact" in my eyes.
It is a fact. At no point have Liverpool had a more expensive squad in the Prem. Feel free to check and throw in wages too if you wish.
I do hear this nonsense a lot more from Utd fans now they're a cup side though so I'll put it down to low self-esteem and the old puerile "my dad, your dad" base level malaise.

yes, that seems to be the way it works with you, you make a statement without any evidence to back it up, then put the burden on other people to do the work to disprove your assertion.
well, sorry to disappoint, but not today, i really do have better things to do with my life than spend the next 4 hours going to and fro with someone with more chips on their shoulders than a burger van owner with parkinsons.
but next time feel free to provide some evidence of your own to back up your claims, that''s usually the way these things work.
Have you backed up your statement? No. Back in your box patriarch of 606.

i backed up the wages/wages to turnover argument, yes. this backs up the spending of the two clubs over the past 25 years:
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/liverpool/english-football-teams/liverpool-transfers
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/manchester-united/english-football-teams/manchester-united-transfers
i could post links to the PL tables over the past 25 years to show that you have been more successful than every other club - bar six - if you want.

who cares how much is paid to an individual player? presumably what is important is what is paid to the squad overall?
and in the year the guardian's article refers to you spent £208m on wages, more than city and arsenal, and c. 90% of united's figure. your wages to turnover were 69% (city 51%, united 45%), yet somehow the manchester clubs are "desperate" and ruining football, and you're the plucky underdogs trying to keep up.
Right so using your own references you can't be bothered to check. This makes perfect sense.
If you add up the cost of the squad each year I can guarantee you Utd have a more expensive squad each season in the Premier league.
