Smid.I dont think just because the new guy is awful we should hanker after last seasons version of awful. Two poor appointments imo and we really do need to just bring in someone who knows the league to settle things. This could get very nasty on the terraces with fans arguing with one another because we are a shambles at boardroom level
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cant believe Im actually saying this but I'd have big Eck in short term and use the entire time he is in charge for to find the correct appointment. I think he would get far more out of they players than Pedro would. FAR more.... I think McCleish would get us second comfortably....I can see this gers team completely losing belief under Pedro and couple that with the poor structure his teams go out with will result in a disaster that will take far more money and time to sort out

I can't disagree with that Zach, and not hankering after last season just highlighting that the lessons to be learned from last season are obvious. Getting rid of the Manager means trying to get rid of guys who have signed 3 year deals and only arrived last week and others who haven't even come back their holidays yet. The board made their choice and have to live with it, they cannot sack him at this stage even if the result last night merited it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We don't need to get rid of players he signed just because we get rid of him. A better manager will be able to get more out of these players and the squad but mist importantly give us an identity.
Although if he's happy to take Dalcio i'm sure no one would complain.
smid - i mind before we signed naka we had just gone out to bratislava & i thought that deal would be dead, he came anyway.
i think dorrans will do the same.
naka i miss him more everyday.

Rats - I don't think Dorrans will be all that fussed, he isn't coming for European football and wasn't getting that at Norwich so he isn't missing out.
Additionally realistically we were only ever going to get to the third round anyway, so the being out of Europe part isn't something I am that concerned with and I don't think any of the players would have came here on the promise we were going to be making any impact on that scene. It is purely the result itself and the manner of it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'd agree with that, though the lure of European football would've swayed a few decisions by signings.
I realise getting into the group stages would probably be out of our reach, but the manner of the defeat, the performance and who beat us leaves Pedro with an uphill task to recover from this shameful result.

I just don't get why neither Warburton or Pedro do the simple thing of playing two wingers or even two forwards against that mob last night

That was actually a viable option when Warburton left. McLeish even said he would do it on a temporary basis.
Would have given the board time to properly asses all candidates and get a DoF in.
King should go and plead Walter Smith to take it for a couple seasons.
He would get time that other managers would not be afforded and reassuringly we all know that he knows what he's doing.

Thankfully Dalcio is on loan.
I would rather McCoist than Pedro.

Good point after artmedia I remember knee jerk sacking requests from some. Did you think at that point Strachan had any chance of winning the league that year?

Bottom line
Within 4 weeks of Warbs being appointed he had an away game against a Hibs side that finished above us in the league. He had 5 senior players when he took the job and within 4 weeks built a team and imposed on them a style of play where you could see what he wanted to do. 8 new players played their first game that day.
Pedro has been here 4 months and with a better starting point and much greater resources and I still can't see what he is trying to do or what his style is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
again this is it, Iv seen more than enough from Pedro's teams, tactics and lineups to know that he isnt getting anywhere near the maximum outta that squad. Not even close. I dont need another 6 months jsut to say "told ye so" I watched and played enough football to know or at least get an idea of whether it can work or not.
The team has no structure or belief and severly lacking in fight, the very basics and fundamentals that a manager should be installing.... THE BASICS !
If Rangers get off to a good start in the league, win a few games and look more cohesive I am sure the fans COULD get back onside with him.
NO dispute that was a shocker of a result last night and of course us Tims are loving it but it is really early on for the manager, that said I haven't seen 5 mins of Rangers live so bow to the guys who have seen them and have a more considered opinion on Pedro
they were no doubt banking on the few million that would have come from another round in europe aswell
don't think pedro will be getting any more money this window
