Barca are becoming a comedy club when it comes to player recruitment.

Ok, Coutinho had a good season but up until last year he has been one of the most inconsistent players out there. Even the 2nd half of last season he was pretty average. There is no way Liverpool would turn down a £72M bid for him because even in the current market he's worth nowhere near that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He scored seven goals in his last nine appearances, and got four MoM's.

You clueless buffoon

I don't agree Coutinho is a better link up player. I don't think Enrique's tactics and issues with Alba helped Barca either, but the midfield is an issue.

Regardless, I think it'd be a bad move for both player and club if he ends up at PSG.
---------------------------------

His pass completion is comfortably better than Neymar's is a less possession-oriented team, he gets dispossessed less, and loses less balls to miscontrols (at least according to Whoscored ). But I don't need the stats, it's apparent to my own eyes Coutinho is a more efficient link-up player and his speed of passing is higher than Neymar's who can get all leggy like Pogba at times.

Just reading the comments on this thread and people are comparing him to Iniesta 😂😂😂

I don't even really rate Iniesta at the level most people do but comparing Coutinho to him is embarrassing
--------------------------------------

You're either overrating Iniesta despite your claim otherwise, or you're underrating Coutinho. Coutinho is a bigger attacking threat than Iniesta ever was. Yes, he's not as technically gifted as Iniesta, but Coutinho is technically proficient and he's hardly some plodder. He has good control and balance and can dribble. And pass. And create. And score goals.

Good to secure his immediate future.

Release clause doesn't mean much anyway. It just means if say Barca want him then they will have to pay a huge fee which we will as always accept.

afraid it is true. If they pay 70 mil we would definitely sell imo

Sure sign he will be signed by Barca in the summer. The same happened with Suarez before he was sold for big money

What's changed?
There's loads more like this too

He signed a new contract last season so no pressure there, he's also our top earner so money is unlikely to be a significant factor.

The only way this happens is if he tells the clubs he wants out imo. And I wouldn't blame him to be honest. Despite what some appear to think on this thread, he's good enough to play for them and the lure of playing with one of the all time greats and competing for the CL every season must be strong.

The technical aspects of his defensive game are also sound and he works hard.

I've been saying for a couple of seasons that he would go in 2018. He looks like ge gas his career mapped out to me. Could well go this year though bur FSG will rinse them I'm sure.

Personally I'd rather have the player.

Think we'll get at least one more year unless Barca break the world record in transfer fees.

Seems like he's destined for Barca at some point but maybe a tad early. Think he'll be the star of the prem next season and hopefully get double figures in both assists and goals

Coutinho to Barca

Neymar to PSG

Verratti to Barca

This transfer window is going to smash all kinds of records

“Stay here and they will end up building a statue in your honour," Coutinho said back in May.

“Go somewhere else, to Barcelona, to Bayern Munich, to Real Madrid, and you will be just another player. Here you can be something more. I have a long contract with Liverpool.”

Quotes from May. So he even mentions Barcelona specifically and still says he's not interested. I think it's case closed on this one.

I'm absolutely convinced Coutinho is going nowhere this summer. There is nothing to suggest otherwise. I do think he will be going next summer though. The only caveat being that we have a very successful season and maybe he decides he's better off here???

If Neymar joins Paris, Coutinho is a goner. He's perfect for that side.

Not this summer.

Neymar to Paris and Coutinho to Barca makes no sense at all.

Coutinho and Neymar are best mates. They will want to play in the same side at club level at some point and Coutinho joining Barca is the easiest way to make that happen and probably a way of Barca making sure Neymar stays.

Most oppo fan have taken great delight in constantly telling us that Coutinho is nowhere near good enough for Barca, which is why they haven't previously bid for him. Now the bids come in, he's a certainty to go, apparently. Show me one piece of evidence that backs up your assertion that 'he's a goner', and I'll show you a lot more that suggests he's going nowhere.

When Coutinho eventually does join Barca, and is brilliant, the same posters now saying he is inconsistent and overrated will be saying 'he's amazing, improved so much since he left Liverpool!'

So predictable.

He says whilst crying under his Coutinho duvet.

If Barca make a genuine play for him, he'll ask to leave. You don't get many opportunities to go there and I doubt he'd turn them down. I don't even think Liverpool would stand in his way as long as they got a good fee.

Yea I realise that which is why I said it's a BS rumour. In the real world Liverpool would accept it.

But I suppose you can pick and choose when to believe a tabloid article

There are direct quotes from the player 2 months ago at the end of the season saying the exact opposite.

That's the only proof there is either way.

posted on 21/7/17

Even if he did ask to leave, which is possible, it will cost Barca a lot more than £72m.

He's got 5 years on his contract and we don't need to sell.

It will be a world record fee if they want to sign him this summer.

posted on 21/7/17

Love the United fans on here dishing out lectures on what a player is worth. How much did Pogba and Lukaku cost?

posted on 21/7/17

He's better than Pogba so a world record fee would be right.

Neymar won't leave to PSG though. I can see him in Italy, Germany and England at some point to win it all but not France.

posted on 21/7/17

If they get £195m for Neymar they won't exactly be short on cash will they? They will need to replace him too.

I reckon £90m would get Coutinho. He's a very good player but not quite as amazing as you lot think he is. However in Barca team he doesn't need to be as he will be playing alongside Messi n Suarez and against dross most weeks.

If not Coutinho....maybe they will go for Mbappe.
