Ronaldo came out with the "slave" comment, and wasn't De Gea actually in Madrid waiting for confirmation of the move?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No Ronaldo never actually said that and yes De Geawas but he never said publicly he wanted to leave. Who knows what Coutinho has said behind the scenes

Rejecting 72m for an overrated, injury prone long shot merchant lol not surprising from the same club who spent nearly 40m on fecking Salah
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You've managed to make an even more stupid comment than Robb's
Some achievement.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh now facts are apparently stupid lol Liverpool fans eh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, facts are facts. Your opinions are stupid.
Coutinho is a fantastic player. To say he doesn't have world class potential strikes me as trolling. If Barca are truly after him (been linked for about 2 years now), will be interesting to see how he's deployed.
Darren laughed at Barca replacing Neymar with Coutinho, but I genuinely believe it they sold Neymar and got in Coutinho and Verratti with that money, they'd be a better team. Their midfield needs a real overhaul and the balance in their team is just wrong.
Exactly De Gea never gave any indication he wanted to move until the move was about to happen. This happens with loads of transfers. Players saying they're happy doesn't mean shiiiiit when it comes down to transfers.

They need a huge overhaul in a lot of positions.
Their business of late has been poor.
Possibly Sheriff as the midfield is clearly an issue for them. But Coutinho is no replacement for Neymar, he's nowhere near him. Neymar would be a fool to leave Barca, he's steadily becoming Barca's most influential player.
Lacks the end product of Messi and Suarez but there were plenty of times when in general play he outshone them and was there go to man. Just look at the PSG match.

Ah yes, Blatter said it and Ronaldo just agreed with him. Not much difference.
For example why on earth did they buy Gerard deulofeu back. That guy couldn't get a game for Everton last year.
The times are reporting this story now so likely a bid has gone in.

That one baffled me.
So they can sell him again and make a big profit. I read there was some strange clause in the buy back that stated they couldn't sell him this transfer window if they bought him back, though.

Suppose he is young, talented with potential and cheap.
He's done nothing of note since leaving Barca though. They're signings recently have been poor. Bought aload of dross last summer instead of replacing Alves and getting a decent centre back.
I don't know who's gonna buy him for more than they spent on him but it's strange times we live in.
Can't see him getting much in the way of game time to put himself in the shop window and if he plays for them even once he can't go on loan next season.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably has. But in recent history, every time we get into a promising position we have lost a star player. We won't let that happen again.
Possibly Sheriff as the midfield is clearly an issue for them. But Coutinho is no replacement for Neymar, he's nowhere near him. Neymar would be a fool to leave Barca, he's steadily becoming Barca's most influential player.

-----------------------------------
That's the thing though....he's not a like-for-like replacement. He could be the kind of guy that makes Messi and Suarez and overlapping fullbacks more effective. Neymar often hogs the ball in Barca and can get annoyingly sloppy or dither on the ball too long. Coutinho is a better link-up player for me than Neymar. This is important because Barca's build-up play is far sloppier than it used to be and a lot of attacks break down.
Yeah their signings have been absolute poverty of late.
Another thing is Klopp will have a much greater ability to persuade players to join/stay than the likes of Rodgers.
AC Milan wanted him.
I don't agree Coutinho is a better link up player. I don't think Enrique's tactics and issues with Alba helped Barca either, but the midfield is an issue.
Regardless, I think it'd be a bad move for both player and club if he ends up at PSG.
Barca are becoming a comedy club when it comes to player recruitment.
Ok, Coutinho had a good season but up until last year he has been one of the most inconsistent players out there. Even the 2nd half of last season he was pretty average. There is no way Liverpool would turn down a £72M bid for him because even in the current market he's worth nowhere near that
Sky Sources: Barcelona want to sign Philippe Coutinho & will pay more than £70m but we are told the player is "100 per cent not for sale".
Just reading the comments on this thread and people are comparing him to Iniesta 😂😂😂
I don't even really rate Iniesta at the level most people do but comparing Coutinho to him is embarrassing
Sign in if you want to comment
£72m for Coutinho, rejected.
