I'm honestly not sure. I kinda liked things the way they were. I'm about 60/40 for a United Ireland atm.

There's also (whilst not massively important in the grand scheme of things) issues like would there still be NI (national) sports teams.

What benefits would ROI have from reunification?

A shorter sea crossing to GB, but still spanned by water
Part of the populous with an identity crisis
Unable to have an on the doorstep view on how poor a deal it is to be out of the EU

If I was an ROI citizen I’d be dead against it.

My 2 biggest concerns are our over stretched taking on an additional 1.5 million citizens.

Added to the fact that half of these people would not want to be part of Ireland and my biggest fear is that this could see a return to the bad old days only the bombs would be on the streets of Dublin and not Belfast. (Not that bombs in Belfast were a good thing.)

Over stretched public services

They’d have their own, it’s not like they’d automatically lose what they currently use.

I now gave a modicum of understanding of the shock that must have been felt when Anthony Blunt was exposed...

He’s blatantly just read it out, wonder if anyone’s told him!

What an absolute bell!

If he was a regular poster on JA606 Election Day thread he’d have seen TBAB post about them

Nobel Prize for economics goes to 3 U.S. based economists for pioneering research that shows that an increase in minimum wage does not lead to less hiring and immigrants do not lower wages for native born workers.

What do people think about this?

Prior to Brexit there were 12 routes from Ireland to mainland Europe. There are now 44, with the UK mainland being largely sidestepped.

This graph shows the total level of regional inequality in Europe.

• Do you see those two dashes on the “United” Kingdom’s bar?

• That’s because the “UK” is so massively regionally unequal, they have to literally trim the bar or it would not fit
