Providing a character witness does not condone the actions.

He did defend her and offer "solidarity" at that alternative labour conference last month

He's either an awful judge of character or guilty of that thing where anyone can be as awful as they want so long as they prescribe to his specific politics

Is this the same Patterson who said the investigation into his corruption caused his wife to kill herself?

The same Patterson who previously stated that they had no knowledge of why this tragic event happened?

So Patterson is either a man who is using the tragic circumstances of his wifes death to try and get himself a reprieve for his corrupt behaviour or he isa man who has to live with the knowledge that his corrupt behaviour drove his wife to suicide.
