I’m glad we’ve got all these patriotic rich people that are threatening to leave the country because they’d rather most Brits live in poverty than them paying a bit more tax.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
idiotic?
ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More like callous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hang on. We’ve got someone else trying to suggest that someone on £100k a year is rich. And they want them to just keep paying more?
And now they are callous?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re the one talking about the exodus of the rich (that isn’t actually happening).

They won't leave the country anyway. There is a reason they live here and not in tax havens. They want everything this country has to offer, they just dont want to pay for it.
Ironically, the less they pay the more likely they are to eventually leave, as everything will become more run down and the country will offer less. They will be the first to moan as this happens.

Yeah part of the fear narrative put out by the media owned by the super rich.
Sadly so many believe it, which leads to voting in parties that continually fack people over in favour of a minority.
If we want to talk about the government’s fear, this is easily the biggest one. They know how influential these people can be in swinging an election.

Reeves looked genuinely unwell today and probably been crying. Politics aside thats pretty sad to see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She has probably had more scrutiny and harassment than most other Chancellors in recent times. I think even Kwarteng got an easier ride than her, because it was all focused at Truss.
Got to question if a male Chancellor would have it easier with the same policies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like shes going to be sacked so interesting to see who's next up as Chancellor
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, sounded like Starmer was pinning the blame on her. Probably the right move politically.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hardly a show of strength.
She didn't come up with this policy alone. Quite sure she was following orders from her boss.
Used to be leaders who took responsibility for their policies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happens all the time in politics. It always has. I would argue every successful political leader has had someone else carry the can for them when something hasn't gone as well as they hoped.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh okay. So we just continue as usual.
That's impressively progressive.

This.
On the subject of taxation, avoidance and offshoring, this (seemingly quite quietly) dropped the other day:
‘G7 reach agreement on global minimum tax’
https://www.gov.uk/government/news/g7-reach-agreement-on-global-minimum-tax
If the G7 thinks it has a god-given right to dictate to the rest of the world what global tax agreements should look like, it can absolutely go fack itself.
The US has the largest onshore tax havens in the world, and London has become *the* go-to place for plutocrats to launder dirty money. The facking audacity of these prikks to suggest they should be setting the agenda.
There is an ongoing program in the UN - their Global Tax Framework - and the G7 countries should actively engage with the rest of the world’s nearly 200 countries on a democratic basis to reach a fair and equitable agreement there.

The charges and the verdicts
To sum up what we just heard in court, it's a mix of guilty and not guilty verdicts:
Racketeering conspiracy: not guilty
Seeex trafficking of Cassie Ventura: not guilty
Transportation for prostitution of Ventura and others: guilty
Seeex trafficking of woman known as "Jane": not guilty
Transportation for prostitution of "Jane" and others: guilty
Oh wow

Then when I pointed out that successful leaders have always had people carry the can for them (never said whether I agreed or disagreed with the approach), you replied: 'So we just continue as usual. That's impressively progressive.'
I think you need to decide whether you have a nostalgia for leaders taking responsibility or whether it is now progressive for them to do that. I dont think even you know what you are arguing at this point. Get back to me when you've figured it out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re thinking the “rich” don’t pay now are you?
And they won’t leave?
Ok

Yeah part of the fear narrative put out by the media owned by the super rich.
Sadly so many believe it, which leads to voting in parties that continually fack people over in favour of a minority.
If we want to talk about the government’s fear, this is easily the biggest one. They know how influential these people can be in swinging an election.

idiotic?
ffs
----------------------------------------------------------------------
More like callous.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hang on. We’ve got someone else trying to suggest that someone on £100k a year is rich. And they want them to just keep paying more?
And now they are callous?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re the one talking about the exodus of the rich (that isn’t actually happening).
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The government seem concerned it is, but fair enough, what do they know?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Just because you think that doesn’t make it true.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What? It’s what the government think for goodness sake.

Reeves looked genuinely unwell today and probably been crying. Politics aside thats pretty sad to see
----------------------------------------------------------------------
She has probably had more scrutiny and harassment than most other Chancellors in recent times. I think even Kwarteng got an easier ride than her, because it was all focused at Truss.
Got to question if a male Chancellor would have it easier with the same policies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Looks like shes going to be sacked so interesting to see who's next up as Chancellor
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, sounded like Starmer was pinning the blame on her. Probably the right move politically.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hardly a show of strength.
She didn't come up with this policy alone. Quite sure she was following orders from her boss.
Used to be leaders who took responsibility for their policies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Happens all the time in politics. It always has. I would argue every successful political leader has had someone else carry the can for them when something hasn't gone as well as they hoped.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh okay. So we just continue as usual.
That's impressively progressive.

Yeah. This is why the government are reluctant to tackle this sort of issue. They aren't concerned about the rich leaving, they are concerned about the control of the narrative. People like Ging will fall for it everytime too.

That is part of it. I also think in the case of Starmer and Reeves they are predominantly free marketers. Stuck in a mindset of an economic model that is going to destroy everything that matters, while a select few live the high life as the world crumbles around them.

Oh wow

Seriously?
It was you who said: 'Used to be leaders who took responsibility for their policies'.
