I think the point is he must have been in some doubt in that it wasn’t a foul.

I’ve only seen the highlights of the game, but McLean clearly gave the penalty because he believed it was a foul. He didn’t hesitate. All this ‘if there’s any doubt’ is nonsense. The fact it wasn’t a foul just means he got it wrong. Fan’s point appears to be that McLean got other things wrong as well. I don’t think that evens it out, it just shows he got things wrong. It happens. Rangers could have had at least one player sent off (how Goss wasn’t even booked is beyond me), so there’s evidence there that he was poor for both teams. The ref sees it once and has to make a decision instantly. If McLean doesn’t see Morelos touch the ball, then for him it’s an easy decision.
Doesn’t make it right, but as Fan pointed out, he feels the ref called a similar incident the same. The fact it didn’t result in a penalty becomes a moot point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
As has been said two wrongs make a right? Does he rewrite the rules of the game cos he made a mistake prior.
If the ref gives a foul for a player diving does he then give a foul for ever other dive in the game on the basis that he gave the first one?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No-i said that it doesn’t even things out. The point being he called for fouls that he believed were fouls. He just got them wrong.

His poor decision making benefitted both teams. Rangers could, and probably should, have had at least one player sent off.

I don’t know what time the Goss challenge was, but it’s fairly petty to say it doesn’t influence the game. If you’d went down to 10 men, you’d have had the advantage...

Yes in a perfect world, I can accept he made a mistake. It was not an easy call to make, it happens.
Fan has disappeared weirdly after his "thickest comment of the year" contender
---------------------------------------------------------
Maybe the penny dropped with Gilhaus that what he was saying was just plain ludicrous.
Or maybe now that the dust has settled somewhat he has realised that Aberdeen blew their big chance to secure second last night and a draw was in fact a good result for Rangers.
Either way from his last dummy spitting comment he clearly wasn't happy.

Yeah well he should of if he was looking at it and if he wasn’t looking then shouldn’t be awarding anything
did those tackles occur before or after rangers equalised?
