It would have been really difficult for Spurs to bring in 5 or 6 players that would have been an improvement on their first eleven, and pointless to bring in 10, like for example Fulham, but not Fulham as they're not a very good example, so they chose to bring in nobody. A decision they may or may not be, regretting now.

Big Question

WOULD YOU TAKE 7th NOW NEXT SEASON?

Not Me
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So much of me says yes because this season has been fabulous and to match that again feels like it would be great.

But I have to say no because the club has such great momentum at the moment and I would have the worry that if we finished 7th again then the likes of Nuno, Neves, Jota, Boly and Jiminez might be thinking it’s been a good ride but to achieve our ambitions it might be time to move on

Wolves have put tickets on sale today for the games they are playing in China this summer. They play Newcastle in Nanjing on July 17th, with the other semi between Man City and West Ham being played immediately afterwards on the same pitch. Then on July 20th in Shanghai the two losers meet in a 3rd place play off followed immediately by the final. £20 a ticket for the semis and £32 for the finals.

If we are in the Europa League then the first qualifying game is scheduled for July 24th

I hope the club are putting on a coach for the fans.

If there is enough demand they are putting on a flight and hotel package. Too late for the coach, it left Molineux this morning

If we qualify for Europa League it would make sense to send the U23s out to China.

That won't do that gem as they want to build our brand in China and sending the kids won't show much respect

Nuno's plan is to send the under 23's to the Europa games. Bookmark this.

A player being linked with Wolves is 19 year old French central defender Jean Clair Tobido. We were evidently trying to sign him last summer but he chose to join Barcelona instead. Hasn’t been able to break into their team unsurprisingly, playing only twice, although he got good reviews in those games.

They are now prepared to release him on loan and maybe like a few we have signed in the last couple of years we could get him for a year and if things work out persuade him to stay

Jeff Shi has said in an interview that Nuno still prefers to work with a small squad even if we are in the Europa League. As Shi has said, if we buy players just because of that competition what do we do with the extra players if we get knocked out.

The optimum first team squad they are pitching at appears to be 20 players. So I think we can expect a few new players but also a few moving on

This is where I don't understand how the likes of Cav and Costa fit in (moreso Costa). Bit part players all season but now with the added European games (assuming we get to the group stage) will their playing time in Europe or in the league increase to give others a rest even though they've been on the bench more often than not this past season?

I would keep Cav for another season and if possible sell Costa and get an upgrade and someone that can really push Jota.

Winger - to replace Costa/challenge Jota
CF - back up to Raul
CB - sell Hause to Villa and invest
RWB - back up to Doc

How much money are your owners willing to spend this summer do you know?

Are you likely to have anymore players from your Portuguese connection coming in?

How do you think you will get on with the Thursday/Sunday grind of the Europa?

posted on 15/5/19

I can see 4 players arriving, 2 on loans with options and 2 on permanent contracts.

I think we will spend circa £70million.

Mendes will have a say in all the players coming in. Directly or indirectly.

We will win the Europa League and finish 6th above Man Utd.

posted on 15/5/19

£70m is not actually a lot, I was expecting more given your owners worth.

Europa League, a lot of destinations on the fringes of Europe/Asia in the group stage and then you get half a dozen decent teams drop into the knockouts. You can go from playing FK Qarabag to Atletico Madrid in the blink of an eye. Still though Euro footy is great and sure Wolves will relish it and Molinuex will be bouncing under the lights

posted on 15/5/19

FFP will restrict our spending for another year or two until we can increase revenue.

posted on 15/5/19

I think the estimate of net spend of £70m won’t be far off but we could get in £20m or so from selling fringe players so might actually spend about £90m

The Europa League qualifying rounds will be quite a challenge. Have to play 3 two legged games from Kate July to late August, just as the new Premier League season is starting. So it’s a really difficult start even if the opposition isn’t the strongest. If we survive that and get to the group stage then I think it will be very enjoyable

Wolves join the Europa League qualifying at the second stage (unless Watford win the cup)

The draw for that second stage is on 19th June.

The Europa League final is to be held at Gdansk in Poland

Amusing that the top English clubs are always moaning that they have too many games to play. Yet just a few days after the end of the league programme Chelsea last night played a full strength team in a friendly in New England
