Far far from it

We’ve done the easy bit - we still have to convince the player

posted on 30/1/25

Hmmm, reports are now saying Chelsea have got him.

posted on 30/1/25

Oh no wait, player is still undecided.

posted on 30/1/25

Yeah, it is the easy bit and it's not an outlandish price, assuming he is as good a prospect as others have suggested. Our rivals now know what price to match.

The only thing I would say is that if Arsenal hold until the summer, they could go all in for Isak, rather than settling for Tel now. I'm sure that must be in their thinking.

If he goes to Chelsea then feck him. That place is an absolute graveyard. It'll soon be a revolving door. They can't keep stockpiling players and if you have a larger turnover of squad players, it affects morale.

In Tel's defence, he must be looking at the league thinking we'd be the bottom of his list of choices.

I seem to remember Everton also agreed a fee with Newcastle for the sale of Wayne Rooney. Meant nothing really. It just accelerated United's interest.

Don’t get your hopes up - if it happens then fantastic we can all celebrate.

But don’t get your hopes up, all the big Prem clubs are interested and we’re in a relegation battle currently

I wonder if this means Dibling isn't on. Surely we wouldn't go for two 50m teenagers in a window

Makes you wonder whether, if the deal were going through now, Archie Gray would have chosen us over Brentford. That's how far we've dropped. If you're English, you're still gonna be seduced by the Spurs name. If you're not, you're looking at where the club are in an objective way and it's grim reading.

I'll be amazed if we get him to be honest.

Yeah, United need to sell to buy - they seeming want rid of Rashford or Garnacho - I don’t think they will get it done.

Villa are allegedly interested, but to be honest, despite where both clubs currently are I reckon we’re still a bigger draw.

If he chooses the Chelsea bench then he really isn’t the right mentality.

If Arsenals interest is genuine then we are done.

Got a horrible feeling he goes to Chelsea

I wondered that. Two different positions but it does feel like with us it's often one or the other.

There's still a possibility that Tel and Dibling were on our summer list of targets, in which case they're not seen as two panic buys but two essential summer targets brought forward. That might see us buy them both but I'd be surprised.

He's already said (Plettenberg) that he doesn't want to go Chelsea. Too many players blocking his path

I think we’re prepared to wait on Dibling until the summer - good player but bringing him in now given our situation could put undue pressure on him. Southampton are going down regardless so the pressures off and he can flourish knowing that any errors aren’t really making a difference.

I think he will be our early summer signing

posted on 30/1/25

Dibling would be a great signing, if he comes, still in development imo but looks the whole target, if this was Summer I'm sure more clubs would be in so if you can get him now is the time

posted on 30/1/25

I don't think we get Dibling if we wait until the summer. He'll have bigger clubs ready and waiting. He's that good.

Dibling we should be absolutely all over. buy now and loan back to Southampton, and for this window by 3 ready made first team players for the here and now.

1. CF
2. Winger who can ideally play either side
3. DM or CB.. both of these are urgent but not as urgent as the attacking situation

buy*

Tel is already backtracking apparently. He's now wondering whether it's worth moving permanently to us or taking a loan move elsewhere.

Surely Ange is doubting this?

I am not even going to be sucked into all this bollox which will end in disappointment.

posted on 30/1/25

I hope we have other irons in the fire, if this guy is still dithering tomorrow then we need to be moving on as he is clearly not interested enough

posted on 30/1/25

It's hard not to get sucked in but this does have all the hallmarks of a hijack.

Give him a day and then move on and tie up Dibling.

yeah we need a LB, CB, DM, Winger and ST badly but all couldnt happen this month but we could have got 2 or 3 in early - LB/CB and winger/striker most pressing

with the midfield we at least have the numbers, for now
